Whistler's Momentum Ski Camps presents "Momentum Splashdown," an event for professional skiers and campers taking place Tuesday, July 6 from 4-6pm. Olympic gold medallist Alex Bilodeau will judge the aerial offerings of some of the North America's best skiers at the water ramps located adjacent to Blackcomb Mountain's Base II area.

"Professional skiers including Colby West, Ian Cosco, Chris Turpin, Justin Dorey and Mike Riddle will be hucking their best tricks for the glory of walking away as champ of the water ramp," says John Smart, Momentum Camp Director. "How cool is it going to be to see the top skiers trying the craziest airs they can dream up? Landing in water lets these guys get super creative and, who knows, maybe the next big trick for skiing will get thrown down for the first time here."

The public is welcome to witness in the spectacle from 4-6pm on Tuesday, July 6 and can get to the water ramps by parking in the upper lots on Blackcomb Mountain, taking transit to Base II or by walking up the slope under the Magic Chair from Blackcomb's Upper Village. Prizes for the best jump, most entertaining jump, best costume and biggest splash will be awarded.

The ever-enduring "Spin to Win" title will also be given at the discretion of celebrity judges including Olympian Alex Bilodeau and the Godfather of Newschool, Mike Douglas. Splashdown's sponsors Vitamin Water, Roxy, Voleurz, Skull Candy, Salomon, Oakley, Go Pro and Discrete Headwear will be stoking out top jumpers with prizing and the crowd will get in on the action as well.

The water ramp is one of the many tools Momentum uses to ensure safe progression for their campers.  Landing in water lets campers develop their aerial skills without the risk of serious injury.  Once they have a trick dialed in the air and can land in water safely, they can take their trick to the snow with confidence.

An 50X50 foot air bag has also been installed on the glacier as another soft landing for skiers learning new skills, while trampoline sessions down in the valley provide a first step to getting comfortable with air time.

Accommodating both recreational and competitive youth or adult campers, Momentum is geared exclusively for skiers and offers either moguls, freeride (terrain park skiing) or the hybrid option, which provides three days of coaching in each discipline.  Momentum's terrain features are designed by skiers for skiers, providing an exclusive training ground built for the purpose of progressing their campers.

Momentum Ski Camp includes lodging at Blackcomb Lodge in Whistler Village, airport transfers to Whistler, lift tickets and three meals a day, including a “dine-around” dinner program so campers can experience Whistler's cuisine.  Off-snow activities include pro-level trampoline sessions, access to water ramp training, as well as a host of other iconic Whistler activities including access to the world famous Whistler Mountain Bike Park.
