Not only does Mark Abma thrill crowds young and old in ski flicks by skiing down huge exposed lines in remote regions around the world but he has actually has taken a huge step forward to stress awareneess about becoming more green!  In Whistler this weekend at the Blake Jorgensen Art Gallery, Mark Abma showed Whistler's elite ski community how  he is leading the charge with his foundation called 1 Step.

Abma's determination and focus towards a sustainable future is helping other people to do the same through persistant initatives to help protect our natural areas globally.  Next year a % of the global Shogun sales will go to Abma's 1 Step foundation that is helping ski resorts to become more eco friendly.

Abma's new ski for next year called the Shogun is a freeride ski that will help Mark chase his goals of creating a greener future for Salomon and the ski industry while continuing to push the limits of our sport.

Mark  has been testing his bamboo skis for over a year now and is happy with the feel and performance but feels he can continue to push his limits on his skis for next year.

The auction went great with Abma's other sponsors like Helly Hansen, Smith, Whistler Blackcomb, Dakine, Magic Potion and The Whistler Brewing company all donating to the night to make the night a sucess. All proceeds made by the auction were donated to 1 Step's foundation.

A huge thanks to Abma and our host Mike Douglas as well as  Dan Otero and Kim from one Step and the many past/ present Olympians plus our hats go off to Blake Jorgensen and  Buffalo Bills for making this charity fundraiser possible!!!

Cheers,
