La Parva Announces World Class Photo Event: Eye Of The Condor

With commitments from world class athletes and photographers, including the K2 Factory Team, La Parva Chile is announcing the Eye Of The Condor, a unique event scheduled for July 30 – August 5, 2011.

“The Eye Of The Condor combines world class photographers and videographers with athletes to create a unique competition which pits brands against each other,” says La Parva La Parva Director of Sales and Business Development Rodrigo Medina. “This is the first event of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, and everyone at La Parva is extremely excited to be part of this world class competition.”

In addition to the competition aspect, which will award cash prizes to the best video and photography portfolio, the Eye Of The Condor will support the local arts scene, with a photography contest for local Chilean students. The event also will provide a forum for broader discussion, with seminars, photo retrospectives and other events that seek to examine the roll that action sports and photography play in society at large.

“It is important to us that we engage the larger community, not only in Chile but on a global level,” says Medina. “Sports and photography are intertwined in the larger human experience. With the Eye Of The Condor, we seek to examine the role that action sports have played and can play in developing opportunities for communities, and through the Eye Of The Condor’s seminar and exhibition program, we will create dialogs that will inform, excite and educate.”

Confirmed participants in the first annual Eye Of The Condor event include world class athletes such as members of the K2 Factory Team, and Discrete Headwear founder and professional skier Julian Carr, who will head up the Discrete Headwear team.

“I’m very excited to be bringing a team of Discrete athletes to participate in The Eye Of The Condor event,” says Carr. “The Eye is a unique project that combines competition with artistry and social action. It’s highly unusual to be part of something that is so powerful. I can’t wait to get to Chile and La Parva!”
