It's groundhog day, the day when a forecast for the remainder of the season is made by a rodent.

There are a number of so called winter predicting Groundhogs across the land sleeping in burrows and there are crowds of folks who eagerly gather around these burrows each February 2nd waiting for these animals to wake up, go outside to stretch, and either stare dumbfounded into the bright lights of the television cameras and crowds of people....or panic and scurry back into their holes, supposedly alarmed by the sight of their own shadow....and collectively, we seem to place trust in what this animal has "told" us with it's actions. The actions and therefore "prediction" of these ground hogs often varies from location to location....but if I were forced to take the "word" of one of these rodents, I'm going to go with Punxsutawney Phil this year.***
