Any riders from the western Idaho, Jackson, Montana areas that already ski Jackson Hole Wyoming or Grand Targhee probably already know that Targhee will not be building a terrain park this season. This is a huge set back to freestyle in our area and will without a doubt cost Targhee a major amount of business. I for one plan on skiing Jackson more than targhee because not only will they have great snow, a terrain park, and easy access backcountry, but with a ski voucher (depending on the area) it is cheaper than a day ticket to targhee by 20 dollars. On a brighter note, for freestylers who want to get into a more big mountain scene Mike Leake a proffessional big mountain competitor from the area has started a website to bring us Idaho/Freeriders together and will be doing clinic through the season. His website is tetonfreeride.com and I for one think it is a good step to bring together young freeriders. Hopefully next season Targhee will see that they made a costly mistake and will re start building parks at our resort. Targhee is a great resort dont get me wrong, the cliffs, snow, and backcountry is great; Not building a park is just a majorly bad directional step.
