DISABLED SPORTS ANNOUNCES ISLAND EXTRAVAGANZA

Highlights of nonprofit’s largest fundraiser include new venue, live music until midnight, and huge raffle and silent auction.

Mammoth Lakes, CA – Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra is excited to announce that Island Extravaganza, the nonprofit’s largest fundraiser, will take place at Canyon Lodge on Saturday, December 12, 2009 from 6pm until midnight. Join Disabled Sports for an island-themed night of dinner and live music with a raffle and silent auction. Highlights of this year’s event include a new venue at Mammoth Mountain’s Canyon Lodge, professional event production by Relevé Unlimited, live music until midnight with a band, DJ, and MC, and the event’s largest raffle and silent auction.

Now in its 6th year, Island Extravaganza has been a popular event and a huge success. Last year alone, over 300 people attended and Disabled Sports earned nearly $60,000. These earnings went straight into their adaptive programs to provide scholarships for students and to support the rehabilitation of wounded service men and women through the Wounded Warriors program.

This year event organizers are working diligently to boost Island Extravaganza proceeds to $100,000. Organizers hope to see the largest turnout ever, due in part to moving the event from a Sunday evening to a Saturday night and relocating it to a larger venue at Canyon Lodge. This year’s Island Extravaganza is also expected to see the largest raffle and silent action ever, with over 250 prizes that include an island getaway trip for two to Jamaica.

Christine Souza, Associate Director of Disabled Sports, is confident that this year’s Island Extravaganza will be the best on record.

“We’re working with Relevé Unlimited to make sure that this is the most stunning Island Extravaganza that anyone has seen,” said Souza, who has been focusing on event planning while also driving fundraising efforts. “For every $75 we raise, we can give an adaptive ski or snowboard lesson to a student. We need everyone’s help so that we can continue to provide these programs for those who need them most.”

Help support Disabled Sports’ fundraising efforts while enjoying a night of dinner and live music with raffle and silent auction at Island Extravaganza on December 12 at Canyon Lodge. Event tickets are $55 each and include dinner, live music, and one raffle ticket. Additional raffle tickets are five for $20 or one for $5 and you don’t need to be present to win.
