Boreal’s JPI.5 Event Goes Public

Donner Summit, CA, (September 21, 2009) – Returning for its fifth straight year, JPI is taking a huge change of direction. It's been a fun and exciting run throwing a massive pre-season Pro Shred event, but it’s time for a change. While it's definitely cool to watch some of the best Pros compete for cash on. We thought spectators would rather be part of the action. So this year Boreal is switching the "P" in JPI from PRO to PUBLIC!

Last year Boreal’s expanded Public Arena was a giant success with over 600 riders so that is the total focus for the upcoming JPI.5. The loyal, dedicated park riders will get to feel the stoke first hand this preseason by getting on the snow as early as possible, maybe even putting some extra cash in their pockets at the same time. The $2,000 cash purse Boreal formally gave to the Pros for best tricks, is for grabs in the public arena. Boreal park staff will be handing out cash, $20-$100 a pop, on the spot for impressive tricks. Also, tons of prizes from our park sponsors will be up for grabs. No bibs, no start lists...basically you get to slide for a few hours, before the season officially begins and try to win some cash. Tickets to hike the public park are only $10, but access is free to any Boreal Season Passholder. At the event you can take advantage of Boreal’s Last Chance Pass Sale and save up to 30% on your season pass including the recently reduced College Pass for only $99.

But wait....there's more! Get your batteries charged and polish up on those editing skills. Totally new this year is the Team Video Challenge. 15 teams will be granted private time in the arena to shoot a 3-5 minute video edit for a chance at the $2,000 winner take all cash prize, provided by resort sponsor FUEL TV. Teams will have 36hrs after the riding stops to post their finished video to their team page on Boreal’s terrain park website http://www.borealterrainpark.com. Also up for grabs will be a $500 cash prize for most viewed video and two round-trip tickets on Southwest Airlines. Additional winning categories and prizes will be announced Oct 1 when online team registration begins. Winners will be announced 10 days after the event. All of the Teams and Best Trick winners along with friends and family are invited back up to Boreal for the grand reveal and thank you party upstairs in the FUEL TV youth lounge. Visit borealterrainpark.com for more details plus a list of contest rules.

So, when is all this going to go down? Well, that is up to Mother Nature. Over the last 3 years Boreal has been able to make snow the first week of October in preparation for JPI.
