Alex Hassman, sent us an update of his early season in Big Sky:

Hebgen Lake - Idaho Montana Border

In the 15 years I have lived in Big Sky I have never seen an early season as good as 2010-11.   I many places snow depths equal those of normal mid-winter.  High pressure lingered into much of the fall and everyone I know seemed to be out riding bikes, trail running, climbing all the way up to Halloween.  Now with only 3 or so weeks of winter under our belts, there are skin tracks zig zagging thru the mountains and face shots to brag about.  The resort, which for the states is rocky and alpine, is nearly 100% open.  The crazy part of the winter is despite record snowfalls, the avalanche conditions, thus far have remained reasonably stable.  I can?t say with any certainty whether we will see this epic start continue thru the rest of the winter or whether the faucet shut off. All I know is it?s snowing as I write this and I?m going skiing in the morning and I am taking my Alias?s with me.  Viva 2010!

Alex has also been practising his chainsaw art, as you do…
