Two of the most dominant names in freeskiing, Alex Ferreira and Alex Hall, have officially punched their tickets to the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina, securing their spots on the U.S. Freeski Team after standout seasons.
Ferreira, already a two-time Olympic medalist in halfpipe, is coming off a near-perfect run — winning every event in 2023-24 and having been on the podium for 13 events in a row, including a massive victory at the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix in his hometown of Aspen last season. With another World Championships medal and his second straight halfpipe Crystal Globe, Ferreira continues to set the bar.
“It means the world to be prequalified for the Olympics,” said Ferreira. “It’s a huge weight off my shoulders. Usually I’m coming in, skidding in, to the very last spot. So to be the first person on the team is really, really rewarding. I worked extremely hard for it, so I’m grateful to have a more tranquil incoming to the Games. I’m ecstatic. Milano Cortina is going to be a great competition, probably the best competition ever hosted, and definitely the highest level of progression thus far. I’m going to give it my all, and I’m excited to battle it out with everyone.” - Alex Ferreira
Joining him is slopestyle powerhouse and reigning Olympic gold medalist Alex Hall, who continues to dominate in both Big Air and Slopestyle. Hall captured the Big Air Crystal Globe in 2023-24 and followed it with two World Cup wins, a World Championships medal, and the slopestyle Crystal Globe in 2024-25.
“I’m super stoked to qualify for Milano Cortina a year early,” said Hall. “I feel like I had a great season and ended up winning the slopestyle Crystal Globe, so it felt really good to lock in my spot that way. I’m looking forward to the Olympics in Italy; I think it’s going to be sweet. My mom is Italian, so it’s going to feel a bit like a home Olympics for me as well. It will be amazing over there.”
The U.S. Freeski Team is stacked, but these two 'veterans' (sorry boys, we know you are still young in the scheme of things) are leading the charge. The rest of an insane collection of skiers will have to battle it out for the remaining spots in each event.
