LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Rodeos, D-spins, Flat spins, Mute Grabs, Corks, Dinner Rolls and more await as the Olympic village delivers a summer-ending splash on Saturday August 26. It’s the 3rd Annual Lake Placid Huck and Tuck and it will take the plunge at the Kodak Sports Park on Rt. 73 at the MacKenzie-Intervale Ski Jumping Complex.Local and regional freeskiers and riders will impress with their steeziest moves off the single kicker into the 750,000-gallon pool during this new school, free-ride competition.  The Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) will award a cash purse of $300 and a pool pass worth $500, which allows the winner use of the pool next summer. The Lake Placid Huck and Tuck’s mantra is “the greater the dare the bigger the air!” It’s that all-important “wow” factor that the judges will consider in determining a winner. With that, the contestants are “free” to improvise.The action begins with a day of training on Friday, August 25 on the trampoline, ramps and rails from 12:45 pm – 4 pm. Training resumes at 8 am Saturday with two qualifying rounds to follow. The top 30 competitors from the qualifications will move on to the 1 pm afternoon finals. The rest of the competitors are eligible to showcase their tricks on the rails during the Rail Jam Snowcase on snow. At the adjacent freestyle hill, ORDA will bring snow from the Olympic Center and deposit it on the winter competition site allowing skiers and riders to session a rail on the real stuff.Participants must be intermediate skiers or better.
