Some very good points here. I'd like to add that pro skiers are just people. Their pro status should never buy them the right to disrespect anyone else. They are in the public eye, and whether or not they know other pros means nothing to the general public. I agree with you Craig, that they do have the most knowlege of other riders, and that they are in a better position than anyone to criticize another pro, but they also have to be careful. What they portray in magazines and videos is all the public really knows about them. Therefore, the public makes their own assumptions about the pros based on that information (not to say that they should, but they just do). I think that everyone; pros, amateurs, and wannabes alike should all just be open-minded about each other. Look at everyone for the person they are. Don't judge too soon, and if you do, then don't let that judgement be set in stone. Opinions should be changeable. Be respectful, and you will be respected.
