There's always trying to skip 'missions' but you can end up getting busted and going back to the start. Although, some games allow you to do this.

Also, don't let the disks get scratched because it will take a while before you can play the game again. You might even have to get a new game.

Some games are just for having a quick fun, with an arcade feel, but then you have to pay up. Other games progress frustratingly slow.
