i was wondeering where, when , and how the verb JIB became known as freeskiing?

jib =skiing or sliding on somthing thats not snow.
going off a jump is not a jib.
a rail is a jib.
a tree is a jib.
a box is a jib.
a halfpipe is not a jib.









i predict in year 2010 there will be no snowboarders and all freeskiers , why because skiing kicks ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The word 'jib' means; to move restively sideways or backward instead of forward. Snowboarders originally adopted this word to describe sliding rails, boxes etc. With the introduction of the new school skiing movement, skiers began to use this term as well. I imagine it was strongly influenced by snowboarders.

This is true! Jib is also a word for certain chemical drugs. Oh, and it has something to do with sailing too, but I'm sure what that's all about.

For some reason I always thought a Jib was a bonk to skiers. Like, flying across a rail and just sticking down a ski to hit it and keep going would be a jib.

I probably got that from Lineskis.com again.

I didn't know this till after I named my company Jibtech, but in the raver language a jibtech is a coke head, that freaks out by him or her self in the corner or some shit like that. pretty funny.
