Looking to replace my park ski and have been eyeing up another Jeff 100. I have been stuck on the east coast and can’t decide to size up or stay at a 181. I have a 108 in a 186 and the tight trees on the east coast have not been friendly to that ski. I am 5’ 11” and weigh 215. I have consulted on3p and they said I could go either way just personal preference. The 181 I had for park all mountain was good but definitely lacked stability and float when we got snow. When I go to the 186 it felt great floated well and was super stable but cumbersome when I go off into the woods. I do take a trip west here and there but when I go I take the 108 Jeff out and have a blast. Should I size up or stay at 181.
Sounds like you 181's might be more suitable for what you are looking for. If you do not enjoy the longer length when skiing trees and you already have a pair of 186 J108s and they are great for when the snow gets better, as well as when you are wanting something more stable. Use those when the snow is better and go with 181 J100 when you are wanting to ski some trees or the snow is not as good.
Just my thoughts, it sounds like its just really up to personal preference and if you are willing to sacrifice stability for manoeuvrability.
I’m 5’11, from the east and I rode a 181 Kartel for pow back there, I wished it was a 186 as soon as I rode a 186. That’s the perfect size for your height. I still have the 181 and it can’t do big landings or speed for shit compared to the 186. I also ride a 191 Jeffery now and I prefer that the most for western riding for sure.
