on several occasions, bad sleeping posture has caused me chronic pain...
im currently sleeping on a memory foam that is way too comfy, and if i sleep on my back, i trigger pressure points....
as mind blowing as this might sound, between skiing, work, and sleeping, i was like crippled, my back, even my hip was effected by injury plagued by sleeping in positions that made it all worse.
its awful, and uncomfortable, but this really works. im coming up with a better name than sleep yoga, but thats it so far...start by trying side sleeping, with good pillows to support neck and knees/hips... start in a tight fetal position. right away you will feel relief from the days pressure points as your spinal cord lays flat, and bending away from the pressure..... my shoulders dont like this, so after a while i go to my back while keeping my hips and legs to the side, quite literately back and forth while im falling asleep. you will feel your core muscles, IT bands stretching ever so slightly with these "poses", if you know what you are doing, you are using your breathing to help the stretching. eventually i go to a long stretch pose, on my side, in which i stretch my toes to the end of the bed, all of my muscles relaxed, yet fully stretched....
i have been working on this for the past week, and have been feeling great. when i do sleep on my back, i have been keeping pillows under my knees.
i also use RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) ; aint nothing wrong with essential oil / epsom salt / bubbles baths!
let me know if you try any of this, and how it works for you, i will be shredding this weekend!
