Am I the only newschooler besides Jimbo M. that has had a serious injury as a result of our sport?
I fucked my spine tod the point where I have difficulty walking because of some nerve pinching that still hasn't heeled after a year of rehab. Can somebody please cheer me up and tell me that they've missed 2 seasons like me as they were about to get sponsorships..also like me//

I should probably add that once I got injured and knew I was out for a long time, I started to hang out with my buddy Jonnie Walker everyday. Hopin' for a sponsorship deal from a whiskey company...that led to severe liver & retinal damage as I found out last month in the Emergency Room..so now my two favorite things in life are gone skiing (spine injury) and booze (I have to quit for good or face blindness)..thank god for pussy.
therfore your advice about the 40's ...already taken..one step too far.

I think I'm gonna start the first ever 'freeskiing injury & alcohol abuse support group'' web site. Hopefully I'll have one or two members by the end of the year.
I will be back on the hill one day though...when all of today's top young riders are in wheelchairs from back problems and knee injuries I'll be in my prime fully functioning as a new-school grandpa pullin switch d-spin grabs while chuggin down some Jack Daniels.

dude, that bites aye, I know a chick that was a top racer and hit a perimeter fence, head, back and neck injuries, she hasn't skied in 3 years. She was in my team training for winter olympic selection so yah, she could've been really good.

wow...that's so shitty. I don't see how hearing about other people getting hurt cheers you up, but i guess whatever works. A buddy of mine was learning backflips on his snowboard...landed right on his neck. Broke it in 2 spots and will spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair.
What were you doing when it happened?
Take it easy out there guys..

He wasn't a very good snowboarder..he was trying to do a backflip because since i'd learned them the year before, they were suddenly 'the cool trick to do'...so everyone in my town regardless of skill was suddenly chuckin themselves upside down of jumps. Kids who couldn't even do 360s were trying them. This kid in particular had about 5 days of snowboarding under his belt and was trying out a new snowboard for the first time (a 165). So off this tiny ass jump just outside the boundry (in ontario ie. less then a foot of pow) he tried a backflip. Came close on the first one, nearly died on the second. I wasn't there luckily.

My boss while working in that states WAS in the Olympic team for Nagano (the American team that is) until a car crash mangled her knee a few weeks out. gutted.

I watched a snowboarder become a parapalegic because he didn't test the jump first. it was centrals first tabletop last year, a gay little jump but it gave you more air than you expected, so the guy went too fast and bottomed out doing a 1 and a half backflip at night when it was all icy. we heard a scream when he landed and when we all got down there he was unconcious, i found out later from skeepee that he was paralyzed in both legs and would be in a wheelchair for the rest of his life, never to snowboard or have sex again.

well, the lesson you should learn from that one is to always test your jump before you go and invert yourself over it.
