Punch or Re-Sell Il Moros?

Picked up a pair of last year’s Il Moro iDs at a summer sale without realizing they were 98mm last. My old Il Moro MXs were 103mm and fit great for the most part but even those pinched me at the end of long days. Anyways, I took them into a boot fitter and he said he didn’t even wanna work on them because I should be in a wider boot. The length fit is perfect. I got them listed on Buy/Sell right now but I’m starting to think about just keeping them and trying to push the shell out. I’ve heard of people adding 10+mm width to boots and the liner is supposed to be top of the line when it comes to custom molding. What do you guys think?

I’m not a bootfitter so my opinion shouldn’t carry much weight, so I can just provide some anecdotal evidence against trying to wedge feet into a ski boot that doesn’t fit. I rocked some used cochises that were much too narrow for my wide toes and got them heat molded to solve the issue. Even so, I found that the sides of my feet hurt substantially and the pain, as the season progressed, came earlier and earlier in the day. I ended up with some serious bone spurs that made wearing them for even a half hour a painful experience and couldn’t wear them for more than a couple hours at a time. The time I did spend in boots was miserable, and even when I’d go days without putting them on they’d begin to hurt as soon as a half hour later and would seriously affect my skiing ability. I’d urge you to listen to your bootfitter and sell them before molding and invest that money on some baller boots that fit right. Good luck dude

If your old boots felt sloppy and too big in some places I’d punch out the narrower boots to get a tighter fit in the areas that need it. If the old boots didn’t feel too big in any place I’d get wider boots.
