I am turning 17 in a couple months and in my junior year, my parents have only been dismissing this idea. I love speed and adrenaline and know a sport bike is perfect for me. Does anyone have any recommendations to what I could tell my parents to get them in favor of me buying my own motorcycle in high school?
Hope you invested in some good riding gear too. I feel like you are either gonna end up as road juice or just gonna droping your bike in turns so many times you get tired of dealing with repairing it.
Had two homies buy bikes who hadnt riden much before one of them ended up on a T shirt after running into a telephone pole. The other just ended up laying it over in corners so much that he got tired of it and switched back to driving a car.
I actually used to race bikes when I was younger and I still wont ride em down the street around a bunch of drunk people texting n shit.
Nothing against bikes and honestly if you know how to ride, they're not too bad, except the x factor is other motorists or your inability to navigate obstacles at speed. You sound very naive thinking acceleration potential is what will save you on the highway lol. People drive slow as fuck, accelerate slow as fuck, and don't crash. Acceleration has nothing to do with it. As a teenager you're more apt to take unnecessary risks and at baseline you have a higher risk (3x) of dying in a motorvehicle accident...bikes amplify this risk.
Passing aggressively really makes you more likely to get in a crash, not less as your gym buddy would make you think. I can't even count the amount of times I nearly switched lanes and a bike goes zooming past me at 100+, seemingly out of nowhere. Believe me, you're gonna eventually push the limits of your bike's speed potential; 0% chance you're gonna drive slow.
You say you're gonna be spending a lot of time on the highway. Just know if you fall at highway speeds, crash into anything, and you're toast, especially at 85 lmao (even cars don't often survive this). This decision by your posts exhibits obvious irresponsibility; you really seem to think it's no big deal.
I'm not embedding this because preview images are nsfl but this might be in your future if you crash on the highway. I was talking with an em resident from one of the big trauma hospitals in my city; dude goes yeah I've seen 3 clamshell thoracotomies in the last 6 months, all motorcyclists... The video below isn't even a clamshell (clamshell is your entire chest flipped open https://youtu.be/8BlPxQI2C90
Frenchmayo1287Nah I have made up my mind, I am doing my training course at 17 and getting a cbr650r. I talked to someone at the gym who rides sport bikes and he recommended me to do it, he said to start with a 600 or 650 not a 200 or 400 cause they are dangerous for the high way and you will get bored of them.
Frenchmayo1287Imma be on the highway a lot, the guy I talked to said that lower cc’s that most people recommend are dangerous because you are pinning it at 85 on the high way and you cant rlly pass anyone quickly. That’s why I chose the cbr 650r, I am really excited tho.
Tldr: you're a fucking idiot.

RparrJust be careful man, 2 of my friends have crippled themselves for life crashing their sport bikes in the past year
to add
one of my buddies died at 18 on a normal suburb road
safest responsible guy but the truck driver wasnt
those kinds of things don't happen to people like you cause your safe until they do
i quit
i know nothing will convince you, nothing did for me, till a wednesday when i got stuck in traffic that was backed up cause my friend had died instantly 3 min up the road
hope you are ok when you stop, cause something will happen

SlitherySnakethat dude’s response is stupid as fuck. “a cbr is probably too much” shut the fuck up oh my god it’s not like he bought a 1000rr blackbird holy hell.
there are cbr250’s, cbr300’s and cbr500’s and they’re all slow as fuck and specifically made for beginner riders
When op accidentally pops a wheelie and crashes and tells us I'm gonna lol so hard
Bikes are cool and I respect it, but the amount of caution you need to ride with to ensure someone doesn't pull out in front of you while looking at their phone and pretty much turn you into a vegetable makes it not worth it. Get a trail bike, have fun in nature and stay off the pavement as much as possible.

The bikes not just gonna loop out on em unless he really, really fucks up. I guess it's possible but it won't be like an oldschool 2 stroke that has a powerband like an on off switch.

WoFlowznah they‘re actually some of the coolest cars i’ve been in, checking some out in person has only made me like them more tbh. I’d still agree most are over engineered pos. But their landy‘s 😍
they didnt over engineer the air bags tho since them shits always broken
You were so horny to post bike pics but guess what nobody gives a fuck. Careful, don't let your shitty bike become your ENTIRE personality.
Also since you clearly BOTH need the lesson:
"Dropping the bike" happens at a standstill like at a stop light where "laying it over" is at speed, either because you goosed it or hit a sand patch and washed out, etc.

You can drop a bike when ur in motion going slow and tip over dumbass. He didn’t even imply that dropping a bike and laying it down are the same thing though. He implied that the bike would be easy to keep up right when stopped unless “this guy is 5’5 and weighs 108lbs. Take a fuckin chill pill.
