Also woodward’s responses feel very scripted and detached from reality but maybe that’s just every ski resort

Mackaroni_spaceWoodies really wanting to get on the mountain biking train I guess
Professor-Modeloyo how much is the woodies season pass?? was thinking about driving out to PC next season for like 2 weeks and didnt realize woodies stayed open this late. i was under the impression that they closed like 3 weeks ago.
eheaththe lift closed a couple weeks ago, but its a monthly pass that you buy for 3 months min. i think? its like 100something a month i dont know exactly
eheathits this 100% there are more people ready to bike/do summer activities than there are people who want to ski/snowboard.
will_welshCan’t ride bikes if there’s still snow on almost the whole hill
WoFlowzGo take a shit on their excavators seat

skiermanOh great, another thread of fucking gapers complaining about a resort closing down due to other reasons than lack of snow.
weastcoatRight lol are they gonna spend the fuel and man hours (and wasted money to make all the snow in the first place) just to rip it all outta there with a bunch of cats? Doesn’t make sense to me.
HypeBeastNot sure why ur being downvoted but ur likely right. It's a money thing.
IsaacNW82That is exactly what Angel Fire is doing right now lol

StaticAre they actively removing the snow from the trails? Because if they're just waiting for it to melt it has zero to do with mtb and everything to do with saving on operating expenses. I wonder if the managers get a bonus from the savings brought by an early closure.
Josh6I figure they could leave the features up while the snow melts and let people hike. Lifts are closed anyway.

freestyler540Ever ridden a fat tire bike? They are made for sand and snow.
there is way more money in mtb. More people practice the sport than skiing and bikers are far more insecure than skiers; so everyone spends big bucks on bikes, shops and yes… lessons!
eheathfat tire bikes are for cycling nerds
everyone getting upset doesn't even live in utah, woodward only had a decent snowpack because they pushed and salted every day, now that they have stop maintenance it is deteriorating fast.
freestyler540Im still riding my 2008 Devinci Wilson…
Future forecast is key to save money. If warm temps are forecasted for an extended time, they will hold off operations until weather looks better for snow preservation. Its like stirring up ice cubes in water, more you stir, the faster it melts.
But if people are showing in droves, Im sure the profitability line overtakes the conditions curve.
eheathI would bet they make more money from the tubing hill most days.
freestyler540Sounds about right. Park skiing, I still consider it niche comparing to the general population.
eheathFor sure, not to mention after the lift closed, the hike park was open and free for anyone not just people with woodward passes.
freestyler540Thats pretty sick! Why are people complaining?
eheathbEcAuSe ThErE iS sO mUcH sNoW
except there isnt lol
freestyler540Sounds like fatasy hit reality and they are trying to double down on fatasy?
Paul.Well those people can bike somewhere that isnt a snowy mountain
DummyBearsKinda has a point
eheathnot really, the business is making the decision not the people biking lol
KilaTsunamiCan’t they bike somewhere else on the mountain? I think Woodward VT Killington runs both at the same time.
also they probably need their whole park crew to switch over to mtb trail maintenance
KilaTsunamialso they probably need their whole park crew to switch over to mtb trail maintenance
207idk how you stupid park rats can’t understand these companies operate these resorts for one reason and one reason only- TO MAKE MONEY. They’re not operating so that you and your buddies can make a fresh new edit in your R3valuate pants and Vishnu skis. Three quarters of the people that ski at Woodies don’t even pay to begin with. You really think it’s profitable for them to farm snow and pay someone to sit at the bottom and top of the magic carpet to babysit you and ur buddies so u can make a mediocre insta edit? Get real, they’re moving onto the next season so they can make more money. Quit complaining none of y’all even pay to ski there to begin with
