Big Sky is really in a world of its own when it comes to terrain and overall "mountain footprint"... The place is fucking huge.
I spent a season there back in college and it's actually mind-blowing.
The sport is getting crazy expensive, we've got nothin' special going for us out here at Mt. Bachelor in Bend Oregon but it's $1,274 for a season pass (our best lift has been down for the season as well).
Big Sky Montana is/has changed and the mountain will surely reflect that with their incoming infrastructure changes, it seems they're trying (if not they're not already) to be the Whistler of the United States, a destination resort.
Still, super lame... but their new tram/lifts/buildings are gonna be cool I guess?

riding big sky is like going to disneyland for a lot of people. they've got a check list of chairs they want to ride and runs to ski, but not one clue how to deal with the magic carpet as you load the chair. everytime i get on the chair, i ask the people where they are from and how long they are staying. usually texas, usually a week.
Big sky has a vibe similar to jacksonhole or Alta, everyone is stoked, you can tell who sends and who doesn’t tourist or not, the swift and ramcharger lifts, powder seeker so comfy and warm, fast as shit, it’s like being spoiled, it dumps 20” when there’s only 1-3” in the forecast, the overall mountain experience and views are incredible, liftie wit da cowboy hat always kept me entertained this year for sure dude had energy, there’s really no need for a chair checklist there’s dope terrain all over and decently long runs, a few areas hold powder so well there’s at least boot deep weeks after a dry spell, and the overall setup of the mountain seems pretty fluid to me and easy to navigate, the shuttle trailers crush buses holy fuck so efficient, I’ll be sad to see the tram go and be replaced by a gondola ushering jerries to the top from the base instead of mid mountain, unlikely I’ll get two laps in again and str8 walk on without being in line again plus more jerries up top 🤯
