Do ski boots lose flex?

Not sure if this is a dumb question, but would ski boots lose flex over time (maybe because of plastic wearing out or something)? Wondering how long my shells will last...

yes they do after 100-200 days depending on how hard you ski. They will still perform, but not like they used to new.

Not a dumb question at all. They definitely become more malleable and fatigue over time with more and more use. A lot of industry professionals will replace their boots around 150 days but sometimes you can get away with just swapping out the liner.

I'm just debating a new boot purchase later this season, I already bought new liners and had to replace some buckles and now the footbed in my shell (what's under my liner) basically split into thirds and I lost the 1/3 closest to my toes...not sure if it's time for new boots
edit: I'm hovering around 120-130 days right now

How is the overall condition of the shell? Maybe swing them by a local shop and have them measure the toe and heel wear to ensure they will release properly from the bindings. As far as the boot boards, those are usually inexpensive I'd also check with a local shop or the manufacturer for replacements.

If everything is in good condition, I'd just run them for give or take 70 more days assuming you have solid fit tension with the new liners.
