Single line etiquette?

Coleg55I saw a thread about some guy talking about singles and what not.

it’s got me thinking is there some sort of behavior when using singles?

I ride it frequently as I usually go after class alone and stuff, and I’ll just join a group under the lift capacity. It makes the mountain go faster, easier on the lifties, and doesn’t waste a chair.

Am I supposed to ask a group on busy days to join? Cause that’s some cuck shit. I ask if there is no line if it’s cool and if not I get a chair to myself

Mountains letting singles on the gondola on busy days are fucking up right now. Like bro, cool corona or whatevet, but get some friggin friends or go fuck yourself. Nothing like a lift that wouldn't have a line being a big line just because of singles or doubles. Don't need to go 8 person but math and science and stuff. 8 person lift, line is going to go pretty damn slow with 1 or 2 people in the cabins.

Also on the other hand if there's 0 people in line don't just barge a groups cabin without asking, especially if you're going to complain if they smoke a doober.

KCoCMya but on the flip side with the stipulation theres no children its pretty fun to be the person doing the barging and lighting up a doober

HammyslapwagonsI don't generally ask. It's not like they own the chair, so why would I ask their permission?

Anyways, one time I tried to ride with a group of 3. They told me two separate times to hang back and wait for the next chair. Each time they asked, I politely told them no. Two of them decided it wasn't worth arguing about and resigned to ride up the chair with me. The third one was extra special. He didn't know how to handle the situation and moved up to board the next chair with us, but didn't make it all the way. I think he initially thought he was going to ride with me and his friends, but changed his mind last second. This left him in a spot where he wouldn't have been able to get on the chair and if the chair kept moving it would have plowed him over. The lifties ended up having to stop the entire lift just for this one guy. Insanity. At this point, I was already on the chair up and all I could hear was him throwing a temper tantrum like some child behind me.

Now a days, I just ride with headphones. I'll still give people a heads up that I'll be riding the lift with them. And on the rare occasion people do complain about it, I don't even have to hear their whining anymore :)

vishnusidelipperif people will hold up the whole line because they dont want to ride up with someone outside of their group because of covid they should stay home instead and let other people have fun skiig

ajbskihere in ontario we have a bunch of covid rules:

-have to wear a mask in the lift line
-have to wear a mask on the chair
-loading with household/group members only
-2metres apart from eachother in the line
-there is a lifty organizing the chairs in the staging area

if your situation is as bad as mine, if def doesnt hurt to ask. most people dont actually care, but its saves the hassle of getting reamed out in the situation someone does care. and there are some crazies out there on both side of the spectrum.

from the other perspective:
when riding a ganjala with your buds. if the cabin fits 6 people and you have a group of 4 or 5 and you wanna smoke, then some single comes barging in... like respect to that guy for taking what he deserves and not being intimidated by us, but fuck it screws up the plan. usually some old dude who would likely say something to a lifty if we just sparked up anyways.
