GrandThingsWhats your beef with Loon?
SofaKingSickmy guess would be how crowded it is. loon's a great place but it's never a place i think to go because i've just spent too much time waiting in that gondola line over the years ha

SofaKingSick100%. i know it's not really feasible but in my perfect world there would just be jumps and rails strewn all over the mountain
BenWhitthere's something structurally wrong with the way Loon is setup. the main park shouldn't require a gondola ride to ski top to bottom but it does. they'd be better off using the triple and Seven Brothers as the main terrain park but that would make accessing the gondola kind of tricky. it's just weird to cut off 100m of the top of the main park like they do, if you don't take the gondola.
coronaThe only real answer is the Torngat Mountains. Westcoast snowfall on 5000 ft alpine peaks rising right from sea level. Next week they're getting 30+ inches in a single day and already have a 7 foot base.

GrandThingsLol yeah you just gotta fight a Polar Bear to get there
SofaKingSickwish Vail would make itself useful and build some resorts and roads there jfc

NivlacEloopYou guys are sleeping on Blue Hills expansive terrain with lots of variety, high speed lifts, 5 star lodge.
But Jay peak is the best.
BenWhitwait i actually can't believe someone else has been to blue hills.
best part is their handwritten snow report that is scanned to PDF on the website.

hi_vis360A few issues with the torngats
- the weather is gnarly pretty much all the time, not necessarily in a good way.
- polar bears everywhere that will eat you
- the nearest hospital is very, very far away
- literally no roads
SavageBiffJokes aside some base lodging ,snowmobiles, few cats, few small stores and heli to get you there, no main lodge or lifts, or maybe just one lift that would be nice.
hi_vis360I don't know how you would get a snow cat or lift infrastructure there, as far as I know there's no large wharf where you could unload stuff like that
ArgyleNJSpeaking of which, looks like the east is finally walking up for winter. Monday's storm should be a good one for new england.

theabortionatorGore is sockaf. Parks have forever been a dumpster fire but mtn is one of the best on the east. Flies way under the radar with people that only hit VT.
Also friend from back in the dsy snd another guy i know are running the parks there this year snd shit looks pretty tight. Gore might have a good park going forward which really would mske the place legit.
Some of the best terrain, layout. Great tree skiing, good snow. Place is bomb. Fuck faces on mgmt can be shitty but that's anywhere.
NivlacEloopMy race team practices and races there. place is a shit hole. but it has charm.

methscratchfaceim old and havent skied back east for years. We used to get way more consistent snowfall. I grew up as a weekend warrior at sunday river which had good parks and fun secret tree zones. But I remember going to vermont and thinking I was in a different world. Just a little bit further from the ocean the snow seemed more western. Cant believe no one has mentioned Mad River Glen. I guess I am partial because both days I went there were super deep but that place embodied the spirit of old school skiing in its purist form. Narrow trails, no grooming, no snowmaking, tight trees, icy cliffs, and the iconic single chair. If the snow is right definitely check this gem out, it was definitely a standout to me.
SavageBiffI said mrg! Believe me she’s still gettin it
BagOTricksIf you don't have specific terrain you're looking for you can't really go wrong at Killi, has a bit of everything and is huge. Only negative for me is the weather there gets gnarly. I don't think I've ever been on a trip to Killi (been like 5 times now) where I had comfortable weather the entire time. Still love it and will continue taking trips there!

SavageBiffSounds like it’s safe from development for a long time. Of course there are ways, but who’s gonna put forth that money and effort.
skiP.E.I.Lol dudes I live in Labrador and the Torngats are so remote I don't even consider it a possibility to go there. The only people I know who have been there are pro landscape photographers and environmental techs who count wildlife from the air.
GrandThingsI sorta put them in tiers because (IMO) they're all quite similar...
1. Sugarloaf, Killington, Jay Peak,
2. Loon, Sunday River, Mt. Snow, Sugarbush, Stowe
3. Cannon, Smuggs, Okemo, Pico, etc.
But they do all have their specialties....Loon and Sugarbush have the best parks, Cannon and Jay are the best for 'powder' days, and Killi, Loaf, SR are sorta just great all around mountains for big crews.
So ya...my fav is Sugarloaf, but 'best' I'd prolly give it to Killington.
HypeBeastI want to take this moment to unveil Vail Heliskiing Excursions, the premier heli skiing destination only accessible with an Epic Elite Pass ($2499+tax). The pass only affords access to the excursion and users must still pay for all services rendered including but not limited to gear, fuel, food, lodging, ammunition, etc. For an extra $10000 you can hunt a polar bear using state of the art night vision goggles and a 50BMG (taxidermy and smuggling not included). Polar bears are baited with farm raised baby seals for guaranteed action! This is sure to be a once in a lifetime experience before they become extinct! Don't delay!

Snowcaine_-I'd like to nominate a hill, but not at its current state
Campfortune, QC 2019.
Was a park captial of the east coast, in my local opion. With the chairlift going right beside the park it offers maximum hype.
Rn there park is lacking but there are enough of us park people to motivate them to change that
coronaIn 20 years of skiing there I've never seen such a shit park by mid-January. They didn't even blow the pile of snow this year for the big jump, so I'm assuming it's not going to happen. Big bummer.
