Dalbello fucked me over so I need new boot suggestions
I bought some dalbello lupo 120’s about a year ago and on opening day the shell around the middle buckle ripped out, then later the whole tongue ripped off the liner and after a very frustrating 2 weeks dalbello basically told me that the damage doesn’t fit into their 2 year warranty and they’re giving me absolutely nothing, incredibly frustrating but need to move on and get new boots for work (ski instructing). I just need suggestions on possible boots to look at because I really don’t want this shit to happen again, I’m a pretty aggressive skier inbounds and have been known to crank my boots really tight, I need a 120-130 flex and have to have a tech insert to tour for the occasional backcountry mission, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Charliehermens1Yeah no I’m gonna steer clear of mdv after this, I’ve been looking at the Lange xt3, has anyone skied this boot or heard anything about it?

Isn’t that a race boot? You could also consider mindbenderd or even ascendants

XT3 skis just like an RX so it’s a real good boot in terms of downhill performance. Tours about as well as any other 50/50 boot. Fit is the most important though so try one on if you can

Genuinely curious how these both happened. I have lupo 120s, have skied em real hard for 3 seasons and they're still going strong on their 4th. Sucks things didn't work out for ya

I’ve been skiing my buddys dads Lang’s fir the past 2 weeks since it happened and the fits been pretty good, I’m not sure how much the fit changes between models

Me too man, I broke like 4+ buckles throughout the year I had the boots too, I just looked down like 3 runs into the day on opening day and saw the whole shell ripped out.
I’m just more pissed off that dalbello couldn’t do anything especially since they claim to have a two year warranty.

The RX and the XT3 have the same lowers respectively in the different volumes. So a low volume (97mm wide) RX will fit very similar to a low volume (also 97mm wide) XT3, and same goes for the medium volume 100mm versions.

That's fucking haggard man. Definitely not acceptable. Some questionable quality control for sure. Can't believe that shit ripped straight out the shell like that. I thought for sure the rivet just failed. Those liners look flimsy too. The stock ones on my 2018s seem burlier. Hate to see it
I had dalbello il moros a while back and two of the buckles bended so hard they were unusable so I replaced them and the same happened again and even the tongue cracked. Switched to fulltilts, no problems with durability.
SnowboundHave you looked into Head Boots or Atomic? What did your dealer say about the boots?
I’ve looked at the atomic hawx xtd 130, but from what I understand it’s a little more of a touring based boot and less of a resort boot, correct me if I’m wrong. The dealer just did the same thing that I did and took pictures of the boot and emailed it to dalbello, that’s about it
OP don’t get a Head Kore boot they’re terrible. They tour like shit and ski like shit and literally every other 50/50 boot on the market is better than that boot, which is why you never see anybody suggest it.
Lange XT3 are soft. they call 120 plus but they are not that.

I haven't personally used the xt3 but I have heard great things about them and I know a few of the backcountry dudes on the faction team use them.

Have you ever actually skied one for more than a day? Because that’s not the case. You didn’t even call out a specific boot, you called out the entire line 😂😂
I have skied the XT3 130 Lv. I also fit them. They are a soft 130. The Lupo Pro is stiffer. I doubt that the XT3 140 is stiffer than the Lupo Pro, but I have never had that on.
Hoji boot is true to its 130flex. Haven’t looked back since I put them on. Walk mode is incredible. I was on Lange free tour previously, tested for Lupo 130 a few years ago, and generally put shit through the wringer.
Fuck Dalbello lol. I rode the boss 110 for a few seasons and broke three pairs, all in the toe piece and the tongue would stress crack. Not once did I get an email or call back about warranty. They fit my feet better than any other boot I’d tried at that point so I just bit the bullet but I’m still salty.

I was on the Lange XT3 130 last season and now I'm on the Lupo 130.
I'm not gonna talk about fit as everyone is different and you should go to a bootfitter anyway.
My 2 cents is about the flex, while both are technically a 130, the Lupo feels like a regular 130 and the Lange felt much softer. Just something to keep in mind, if you like the flex of the 120 Lupo and the XT3 fits you, you might want to consider the 130 over the 120.

I ski xt3s in a 130 and I’ve tried on an rs 130, the xt3 is definitely softer than the rs but it was stiffer than the k2 mind bender and the other 50/50 boots I tried. I really like the xt3 but the liner packed out super quick, less than 20 days, not sure if that’s because of touring on it or what but I really really miss how tight and locked onto my ankle and foot they used to be so I’m going to be swapping to zipfits for lift served and tour on the stock liner

Charliehermens1My thoughts exactly, like wtf do you warranty then
Did you go through a shop or Dalbello directly? In my experience Dalbello takes forever to send parts but always comes through. My friend had the same Lupos as you, broke the part where the walk switch meets the lower shell and just got a set of the new gray Lupos going through a shop.

Both, tried reaching out directly and they told me to go through the shop, so I went through the shop and about a week later the shop called and told me dalbello classified it as “overuse” and weren’t giving me any warranty or anything.
