Best place for season rentals

What's up NS, trying to get some season rentals for someone and was wondering what places have the highest quality rentals. I'm located in Boulder and I was looking at REI, Christy Sports, and Crystal Ski Shop. The person in question is a beginner and would need boots, skis and poles. My main concern is finding a season rental that offers high quality skis, not the usual beginner demo fleet you'd find at some resorts. Any suggestions, thoughts?

just go on the skiing subreddit, i dont think a lot of use here ski with rented skis so not the best place for advice

Unironically suggesting a r/skiing visit is blasphemy.

A lot of users here work in ski shops that may offer some decent rentals.

Any reason why they're renting instead of buying? I think for someone looking for higher end gear, buying is probably cheaper?

I'd try to convince them to buy boots and rent the other hardgoods. If you want decent poles cheap without stealing then rent poles and tell them you lost them.
