Thinking about a new Ski purchase

I’m currently weighing up the possibility of purchasing another pair of skis to add to my 186 Kartel 98 that I’ve been using as my daily for the last few years. I ski in Australia mostly and on the odd occasion I can get to Japan, don’t spent a lot of time in the park anymore and I have a racing background from when I grew up so I really like to charge and ski fast, however much of the fresh snow I’m skiing is through the trees as much as I enjoy flying down an open run, and I also want a ski I can be dropping cliffs and spinning on, I have loved the playfulness the old kartel ski has given me and do not want to sacrifice too much in that regard, I’ve always been able to push the Kartel rlly hard but have found on occasions when the snow is either a little deeper or heavier then usual it starts to fold on me or feel just alittle short so I want to fill the space with something that will be just as playful but I feel like I can push a little harder on those bigger days.

I am 6’2 and 220lb, Atm I’m tossing up between the Jeffrey 108 at 191 and the Woodsman 108 at 192, I’m hoping the Jeffrey 108 in the longer length is just going to be alittle bit burlier than my Kartels and get the job done or if I should be seriously looking at the Woodsman instead but I am also unsure how the Woodsman will handle in the trees am open to any other suggestions but I’ve just had an unreal experience on ON3P skis in the past and am hoping to stay in that lane for the time being.

Well i personally love my jeffrey 108s as they work for literally everything especially park, i can’t really speak about the woodsmans but i just don’t like em cause they’re directional. I see many many woodsmans at bridger bowl.

I pretty much did the same thing 181 k98s and added 186 k108( I’m a bit smaller than you) and there’s definitely a fair amount of added stability from the length, enough to charge far more comfortably than the smaller ski

There is going to be a Jeffery 110 for 2022, sounds like that would be the ski you are looking for

I have woodsman 96 and they are sick as fuck, I think the 108s would be exactly what you're looking for. the woodsmans are still super playful, I rode mine in the park all season, but they charge so damn hard there is absolutely no speed limit and blast through anything. The slightly more directional shape is dope. I've heard they're similar in flex to the kartels

I am rlly interested in it I guess I just wonder if the Woodsman leans more towards the Wren than the Jeffrey because I still need that ability to be quick and pivot, Idk if it's just me but I have found it a bit tough to find a lot of info on the Woodsman

oh also the woodsmans ski super long, my 187s feel longer than my touring skis which are 188s

That does sound pretty enticing, am kinda itching to get the 108 atm just because they've still got the sale going

more similar to the on3p freestyle skis from what I've heard, I haven't ridden the wren though

I read through it a while back when it first came out, admittedly haven't looked at it recently wanted to hear from a number of other people that've also skied it too, everyone has different experiences

That’s a tricky question. My impression is a Wren with the ability to pivot and not be so locked in.

I think we should loop in @iggyskier and @patagonialuke

It's getting flack because OP said he's folding ON3Ps in denser conditions, and if he's folding ON3Ps he will certainly fold a Vishnu. Stoked on what Vishnu is doing, don't get me wrong, but they are not hard charging all mountain skis.

It pretty much is. Quicker edge to edge than the Wren and a bit looser feel, but sturdier and more stable than the Jeff. I’m picking some up come 21/22 cuz they’re insanely fun

2022 Jeffrey 110 in 191 would be my vote. Woodsman is much more Wren than Jeffrey (and even more so for 2022) and the Jeffrey 110 (or previous years in 108) will give you the additional stability you are looking for while retaining a more playful platform & balance.

Awesome thanks for the input, am going back and forth but leaning more towards the Jeffrey at the moment any major changes in next years models other than the widths?

I feel like the moment wildcat 101 in 190 would be a just touch wider, and slightly stiffer than your current skis.

if you want more of a difference theres also the wildcat 108.

I think both those skis have the sickest topsheets I’ve ever seen
