I was changing my door knob and the screw fell out and because I was pushing on it the door closed and the other end of the door knob fell out. So now I have the latch part in there but no way of turning it to open it. My screw driver is too narrow to catch where the normal part goes. My front door is locked and no one has a spare key (because I JUST changed that lock too). I used my school ID to try to open it but of course it came with a safety thing on it where it makes it much harder to do.
Guys... I literally don't know what to do lmfao and I know what you're thinking. Why are you making a thread instead of trying to get out? Well, I've tried all that I can think of. Please send help or insults my way to either help me or to keep me entertained as I navigate this situation.

Shimming a credit card into the latch? I’d probably pop the hinges if you are on the right side of the door and truly stuck the interior doors aren’t exactly bank vaults in terms of security and you have a screw driver?

MinggMy front door is locked. My key is on my table...on the other side of my door. So that wouldn't help me much lol
You just need to make your screwdriver or whatever big enough to fit tightly into the cam slot for the knob to turn it. Use paper or cloth. Look around the room and MacGyver that shit. Or just shim it with a sharp knife.

I made it out alive. Had to jump out the window in my bedroom and find an open window elsewhere because my front door was locked and my keys were not in the room I was locked in. I tried to use the side of the door with the square part that goes into the thingy but it wouldn’t open it. Turns out I bought a weird door knob. So I got my sister to hold the exterior side while I climbed back in through the bedroom window and then put the knob together to open it. I made it out around 1:15am and still made it to work by 7 🙃
