BrandoComandoIt's hard as hell to get good at skiing, but I'd argue almost all sports are difficult af at the professional level. The level of separation that exists in basketball, soccer, racing, etc. is astronomical between regular shmucks and pros. Just like it is in skiing.
I'd argue that team sports are the most difficult. Yes, you have others helping you, but at the same time, you're relying on all of those players to be their very best. American Football is a really good example of this. So many pieces need to fall into place perfectly to operate at the highest level competitively. It takes an army of players and coaches to organize and strategize. One player's mistake can ruin the outcome of the team. Formula 1 is another example. You can have the best driver and best car in the world, but if a pit crew member messes up a tire change, the race is over just like that.
Skiing is also a really niche sport. There are 265 million soccer players worldwide and only 135 million skiers. The sample size for soccer is much larger, which would suggest the players at the top are better as a result.
I'm not saying skiing isn't difficult. If it was easy I'd be a lot better at it. I just think athletes of all sports are amazing and deserve credit for competing at their level.
weastcoastBaseball.
I don’t think skiing is a sport. At least not the type of skiing I do. Way too fun to be a sport haha.
switchlip2Feel the same way. If I treated skiing like a sport it would ruin the fun in it. I’m just comparing it difficulty wise to sports
weastcoastSkiing is easier than walking lol.
real talk tho skiings not super hard but you have to have a little bit of athleticism for park or all mtn skiing

Skiblade420I love u, but baseball? r ur fukin balls on backwards? Pro baseball players are out here in their late 30s looking like they just slammed 6 Big Macs on the way to the game. I’m sure it’s hard but def. it hardest

WestieBoganSorry to burst your bubble grommie, but surfing is infinitely more difficult to master than skiing. So many more variables and everything is always moving around you. No two waves are ever the same. You can learn enough about skiing to be having fun after 15 minutes, surfing is more like a year - that's if you ride a longboard in small waves, have natural ability and already understand how waves work. Shortboarding - make that three years to get beyond kookdom.
Skiblade420After a single season of skiing, I feel like from an onlookers perspective outside of both sports (on video) I look just as comfortable as I do surfing. And I’ve been surfing consistently for 10 years/live by the beach and would be considered advanced. The adaptability you need in surfing is un real. A jerry could hit a big jump skiing and have a decent chance of actually landing it if he gets his speed right. Take that same skill and have him try to drop in on a big wave and there’s no chance in hell he’s not beefing it.
I think you take the extremity of sports then they generally all take as much skill, like a pro surfer / pro skier are just as talented and pushing the limits. same with skating and every big sport, those people really give it their all.
You kind of have to think of how hard it is to look just alight from an outsiders perspective.
someone that looks aright-decent at skiing doesn’t have to put in that much time I feel.
Someone that looks alright-decent at surfing has to put in a ton of hours
just like someone that looks alright at unicycling probably took them way longer than someone who looks alright riding a bike
ericformanYea dude I tried to learn how to surf once...it’s impossible to even learn cause I couldn’t even catch a wave. I think if they got rid of lifts then skiing could be considered hard to learn, but the lifts, groomers, signage, perfect kickers, etc, all make it way easier than most untamed sports.
I think in terms of learning, yea something like surfing. In terms of competing at the highest level it’s gotta be soccer - the most people, money, and time is invested in it so presumably being the “best” is hardest.

NivlacEloopGo to a ski hill. look at the average person there. Skiing is not the hardest sport.
switchlip2something ive been thinking about for a while and I think skiing is actually really fucking hard compared to a lot of other sports to get good. To me I don’t consider it a sport cause and more of an art because I’m not a comp kid who jerks their meat to andri ragettli every night so let’s just compare it to sports. In teams sports you have like 4 or 10 people helping you while in skiing it’s just you competing against other people. Unless you have hella daddy’s money or live in oregon, you can really only improve drastically in the winter, giving you less time to improve such as biking or running sports. So is skiing really the hardest sport cause I say yes
DolansLebensraummeanwhile ppl like wallish and vanular and delorme are on food stamps selling dick picks to perverts.
TreegrabberNope
jacking off tops it by a mile
3maniamogul skiing... There's a reason why even people who consider themselves expert skiers don't like moguls... cuz it's way fucking complex athletically. It's like motocross/sprinting/gymnastics. You could put Kinsbury in a speed suit and he could get down GS course, maybe not that fast but he'd do alright, you could put him in the park and he could do cork 1440 and hit all the rails. I doubt any WC racers or (todays) park guys could even get down a mogul course with 2 straight airs.

BiffbarfThis is kinda cap. Bump skiing isn't that hard, I'd imagine it would be even easier with super soft, light bump skis that only come up to your shoulders.
3maniaI guess you can imagine all you want. Those courses are damn near unskiable by anyone except for someone who competes in the discipline. I looked at your profile to see if there was a way to tell if you are a decent skier, no photos no vids. So i have no way of knowing if you even are qualified to make any kind of judgment on this stuff. You got a lot of NS points so i guess your good at putting your opinion out there, but you're way wrong on this.
