I Can Only Think About Skiing

Anyone else? The only thing I ever want to do is think about skiing, go skiing, research ski related things, and watch ski videos.

Such as now, I should be studying for my 5 finals tomorrow but I am instead typing this meaningless thread which I still find more interesting than the past year of school.

Is this level of stoke normal? Or have I developed a new mental illness of Obsessive Ski Stoke? Honestly though, skiing is one of the only places I have found true happiness, so am I doomed without it?

I've gotten into many different things in my life and have explored many different pass times but skiing is the only one that's really stuck and I've kept with.

Do you really love skiing? Personally, I know I don't love it enough to sacrifice big things in my life for it. You gotta ask yourself these questions. As for the finals, the better you do now, the more skiing you will have in your future, generally speaking. Short term pain for long term gain man

I’m trying to get myself to start my mountain bike season, its been impossible.

I’m constantly finding myself scrolling through instagram footage of people skiing t-line and wherever else is still open and it’s an issue.

Not sure why this season has been worse than most but I literally get sentimental when I’m talking to my ski buddies in 70 degree weather on bikes.

This right here sums it up, I obsessed this season like no other and it paid off in terms of progression, but the obsession never stops when the season does it just gets stronger

"Do what you have to do so you can do what you want to do" A high school teacher of mine used to have this poster on his desk that said that and it's always stuck with me. Skiing is always gonna be more enjoyable than working but you want your skiing opportunities to last. I know this is a little extreme but you don't want to fail everything and work a shitty job where you cant afford a day off or a lift ticket. I struggle with this a lot too because on the flip side, you can't ski as well when you're older so there definitely is a trade off. Idk, go study and in a few days you can catch up on the content you missed on NS. We'll all be here waiting for you, good luck OP

I discovered I felt the same way last season. During the winter everything is skiing skiing skiing, until I’m too tired to ski so I do my work. I haven’t been able to ski for a month now and I’m still always thinking about skiing, I just fill in the gap by skating, running and other hobbies. My goal is to find something that I like as much as skiing so I have something else to obsess over during the off season. Probably won’t happen but it’s better than losing my mind.

Yo same thing just happened to me this year, I can’t stop thinking about skiing and ski videos and ski parks, it’s may and I’m thinking about when I go to Whistler to ski the glacier in august, not about what I’m doing for 4 months before that, can’t stop practicing tricks on my tramp and I was not like this last year. Yes, I was always pretty damn obsessed but it got even worse when covid hit. Now it’s all consuming.

Edited to add in that I literally typed this as I was watching the ski film “collective” by faction.

Obsession is the correct word.

Same.

Fortunately if you focus exclusively on skiing and work / school there is plenty of time to excel at both. Just don't waste 4 hours a day watching netflix like most people.

I feel the same way honestly i have other interests but skiing is literally all i can think of. I know that no matter how much efforts/ commitment ill put into it i will never be an outstanding skier health issue/ background and so on but If it keeps you going stay focused on it . there’s so many things to connect to it like off season you can focus on getting stronger and all and on the creative part you can start a bunch of connected projects : video, photo , fashion, building things and even more so in my opinion that’s why skiing never leaves my mind and I think that’s the beauty of it

I think all of us think this way, at least somewhat. Just make sure you do well enough in school so that you can find a job that'll let you ski, then obsess over skiing all you want.

Man I feel this, ut you just gotta find something to do during the summer.

When I was a kid that was always summer camps and shit like that, but now it's golf and tossing dye. Right now though I'm in a purgatory where the ski season is over but summer activities haven't quite kicked off yet, so instead of schoolwork I just browse ns. Which I'm doing right now. Don't be like me and focus on your schoolwork

I’m on the same page dawg. I just started a summer landscaping job and skiing for the most part is pretty much done and all I can think about is skiing next season.

I get off work and watch ski vids, I look at ski gear randomly throughout the day and I fantasize the pow pow that’ll come next seasonšŸ˜«

I think about it non-stop for usually 6-9 months of the year. during ski season, and usually starting around beginning of august before ski season starts. after a successful year i’m usually fulfilled and ready to obsess again in a couple months, but midwest summers are so amazing it’s easy to just chill and enjoy other parts of life for a while

Since the season has ended i’ve just been thinking about skiing, watching edits and slvsh games on youtube, and looking at a new setup for next year. The hype is really building for next season

My friend and I are already digging in rails on a hill in his backyard for next winter. This is after skiing has been over for like 2 weeks. I'm the same way.

I even thunk about skiing while I'm skiing. Skinning up Bridger and hitting a jump is really fun, but I still spend half the time dreaming about hitting rails. At home it's even worse. Anyone else have seperation anxiety about skiing
