I think for the tikka rifle im looking at getting i will go with the stainless steel barrel. But i wanted to hear if you guys had any suggestions regarding the other alloys choices for tikka rifle barrels.
Up here in AK I refuse to buy or shoot any gun that isn’t cerakoted or stainless just due to how wet it always is around here. If you live in a dry climate like Utah or Colorado, then a blued barrel would work just fine and will be a lot cheaper. Tikkas are great rifles when it comes to their mid range to high end offerings. What model are you looking at?
Im assuming that was what you were referring to when you say “alloy choices” as most tikkas and pretty much all other major gun manufacturers use pretty much the same type of cold forged alloy for their barrels these days unless we start talking about lower end rifles.
Nice! I have a tikka t3 in stainless. Can't talk about any of their other barrels because I've never shot them. But I do love mine. Tikka makes a good stick. What caliber you getting?
The picture you posted is not of a stainless barrel. I've started going to stainless for all my rifles. It just holds up better when hunting in adverse conditions. Tikka makes a decent gun. Buy a really nice scope and you'll have a good setup.
I have a t3 with a blued barrel. It works fine for Colorado. Our weather is dry enough that I'm not worried about rust. You can always buy some duracoat to spray on.

I was looking at the t3x ctr. The only barrel options im aware of are the blued steel and stainless steel.

Probably 6.5 cm. If i ever do go hiking in grizzly territory i will get a rifle in .375 h&h but mostly i just want to go target shooting and creedmoor is cheap and super accurate.
I tried cycling the action of a tikka light at my local bass pro superstore last yr and it felt better than jacking off. It was so smooth i just stood there sliding the bolt back and forth while the clerk there laughed

Do you live in a damp or dryclimate? If it's an alloy barrel I only shoot stainless since that's better suited for MT-- opening day is usually a blizzard then it's back to dry then snowing again within a week.

Yeah so between those finishes, I’d go with the stainless. Like I said earlier, if you live in a dry climate the blued one will work for ya and be cheaper.

Blued barrels will rust in a wet climate. If you clean and take care of your gun you can prevent it, but stainless and cerakoted guns are way less likely to rust and just all around easier to take care of.
Dolan it's called Google. This has so much literature it's not even funny. One thing is for sure, the most durable barrel is not the most accurate type of metal.
