Does Trampoline work Wonders?

My little sister is in the process of convincing my parents to get a trampoline for the backyard... should I aid her efforts for the bouncy platform? Can I really get good at learning air tricks from practicing on a trampoline? Or is it way more involved, and a simple home trampoline probably will not help me out much?

Yes, more controlled airtime will help your overall aerial awareness. Hitting jumps on a mtn bike and cliff juming are two others that helped me out a lot too

I was 12 when I got a trampoline, it came with the house we moved to, 14 foot round Costco whatever normal trampoline. It literally changed my life dude. Compared to modern kids I wasn’t shit but in the early 2000s being able to sit there and perfect d-spins, mistys corks back etc- plus the cardio aspect. Your air sense is everything jump on that thing 7 days a week. Now I am a 36 year old fat dad but I still bust out some shit at parties if the neighbor kids have a trampoline or whatever shit is like riding a bike

It’s not exactly the same because you’ll never have the 20lbs or gear on your feet or the edges/bases to pop off of
BUT it’s HUGE for general air awareness as well as learning specific tricks. First step to learning tricks on snow is getting em on tramps. Tons of progressions for all different axis or you could just spend all day learning backies and 3s w 9 different grabs.
hundred percent worth it 👌🏻

Yeah I’ve got an old Panasonic camcorder and I love the way it films but new sd cards won’t work with it but I can find old mini dvds for it

Yes yes yes. My brother and I spent so much time hucking ourselves on the tramp and learning new tricks before we even knew what they were. It’ll do wonders for your air awareness and it is much easier to learn tricks on snow if you already have the rotations dialed

It helps. The biggest thing I noticed is that is just helps you feel more comfortable inverted up in the air. For instance, I didn't do more than 1 backflip last year on skis (cash was tight for my wife and I), but this year, I've landed a bunch of them, and I legit think it is because I locked in that muscle memory of being inverted, on a trampoline, it's just not scary anymore no matter how long I go without flipping

Tramp is super good for skiing. Nothing feels the exact same on tramp and skis, but the air awareness that it gives you will make you more comfortable in the air and less likely to eat shit. I won't try anything on snow unless I have it on lock on tramp

Can be really helpful but can also magnify bad habits. Ik this might sound very compjock but learn to bounce with good form or you can start doing things like flinging your head or be more likely to tear something.

Find a craigslist white/yellow bed with beefy springs. Building an in ground can be affordable cause you don't need an entire frame.

Great for air awareness, pretty damn good work out. Great place to dial in backflip, front flips, learn corks with little risk.

i can’t believe i went my whole life without youtubing this shit it looks so fun

hopefully i can just grab a cheap one off craigslist, but if not i have a project to work on alongside a backyard rail setup

Learning how to get good at tramp can be a grind for sure but if you can get really good it's my favortie thing to do in the world. It will also help you avoid major injuries on snow cuz it will teach u how to fall

Also since you're bad at rails, see if your parents will let you build a backyard drop in and some pvc rails. A summer of that will take you from bad at rails to decent at rails.

Yes it does. I spent a solid decade on my home trampoline. I ski significantly less than I used to but I can still throw cork 7s without a problem thanks to the muscle memory.

100%. Would never try a flip of any sort without air awareness on tramp first.

Yes. I grew up with a trampoline in my backyard. Helped with setting muscle memory so when you try it on snow, it’s a lot easier

My parents were stoked when we wanted to build a rail setup. It gave my brother and I something to bond over (you know how siblings fight a lot at young teen ages) and now we're like best friends. I was able to learn how to hit rails in different ways. Super fun just to build and work on creative ways to set it up, too. 10/10 would recommend

I used to do a bunch of tramp work. Fast forward 10 years, went to one of those trampoline parks with my daughter for a birthday party and tweaked my neck...

my brother and i had a trampoline for most of our childhood and it was the best thing ever. besides being tons of fun in general, it can definitely help with your air awareness. from my experience if you really want it to carry over to skiing you have to be conscious of your body positioning when flipping and jumping, so that you're not creating bad habits/form. aka, keep your hands up high and in front of you and really jump through your legs (instead of getting momentum from swinging your arms up) when setting for a flip.

For backs, fronts and corks i think it makes. For doing a 7 it's nore like is this jump big enough and can I commit to a 7.

For doing a cork 5 or 7 you might not even know how to set it, what axis you'll end up on and if it will come around. Easier to get out from catastrophically botching a cork on a tramp than in the park.

Also front flips and backflips aren't very hard to learn in the park, but if you've never done one on a tramp its bith scarier and a lower chance of success.

Flat spins feel kinda weird on the tranp though. Like on axis spons, spinning flat, not like a flat 5

agreed. On snow, I feel like the jump sort of pushes you back and naturally sets you up for the flip. Whereas on a tramp it feels different since you're taking off from a flat surface
