So fucking spooky, has there ever been a grocery store shooting like this? Having a hard time finding details about this one. Do they have the suspect in custody?
Don’t know about custody. I get all the CU Boulder alerts and as of 7:18 mst they sent a text out that Boulder pd confirmed there is no longer a threat. I’ve got two friends who live in the block that was locked down and they said a suspect had barricaded himself in a house. Police are all gone from their area and lockdown is now lifted.
so I think it’s safe to say they’re got who they were looking for. Absolutely sickening. I don’t know why Colorado attracts this shit
Yea I was about to head over there when I saw what was happening.....scary shit. I was out after that and they closed a bunch of roads and cops were everywhere
edit: I read they apprehended the shooter at the King Soopers and the 17th and Grove incident was unrelated. The guy was in his underwear and one of his legs was covered in blood

Good to hear man, prayin for al the Boulder homies rn ❤️
Sick of this shit, we need to start frying ppl again. Remind me—where is James Holmes? Oh yea, being cared for by the “witness protection” people—why?? This guy killed a cop so maybe there will be actual justice.
my old manager’s daughter was working the store. She heard the guy say “where’s everybody” and shooting. He flipped tf out on me—apparently ever since I made fun of him for watching CNN every morning and actually thinking Trump would actually ever be removed from office he’s lumped me as a Trumper and had some very explosive words
DayManSo fucking spooky, has there ever been a grocery store shooting like this?
Yeah, Im really confused by it... one of the few places people have been able to go and have some semblance of normalcy for the last year, and it gets shot up by some fuckwit
CaptainObvious.I don’t know why Colorado attracts this shit
Dude seriously... Colorado seems to always have mass shootings every couple years... Columbine, Aurora theatre, the walmart shooting, the planned parenthood shootout, the school shooting in highlands ranch.. and now this? It's fucked man... I'm probably forgetting like 4 or 5.. this shit is terrible.
That guy who was shooting people on I25, also shooting joggers (not sure it’s same person or if they even ever found the guy)... there was another one nearby me where this kid got road rage and followed this mom’s SUV until she parked and shot her kids and then her. She lived but he executed one of her kids point blank
this fucking place. Nothing ever fucking happens for justice. seriously. you think “what ever happened to that guy who shot those people” and you’re hard pressed. They just go away lightly

I made my regular online order to pickup groceries from this king soopers on Tuesday of last week. It's not even 2 miles from my house and I go there every 2-3 weeks. I'm absolutely stunned by this, I was at work in the office and got the notification and everyone in my office made up of mostly CU alumni was so shook. We watched the news for a bit and all went home around 4 in complete silence.
Not sure how I'm ever going to be able to shop at this store again. Seeing the 2 people dead in the parking lot from the walk way I've been up a 100 times is something else.

Man... that video is hard to watch. This isn't the thread for politics, but I think everyone can agree that something's gotta change. It's fucked that this is such a frequent occurrence in America. I have friends who lost loved ones in the Vegas concert shooting a few years ago. My heart goes out to the victims of this tragedy
BrandoComandoI have friends who lost loved ones in the Vegas concert shooting a few years ago.
My best friend and his wife were there and they hid under a fucking hot dog cart with 2 other people and he shielded her while she scream-cried as bullets rained down around them and killed 50 people.

Land of the free, dude...
Turning this into some political talking point when many ns'ers have ties in the boulder area would be a real cocksucker move.
BiffbarfTurning this into some political talking point when many ns'ers have ties in the boulder area would be a real cocksucker move.
I'm one of those who has ties to Boulder as I used to live half an hour south and I have dozens of friends in the area. That's a big reason why I created the thread.
That said, this is bound to turn political, as all mass shootings do, but we all know how this will go. Feople who have been and continue to become upset and frightened about the issue will call for their elected officials to work towards gun control reform others will push back with their originalist interpretations of the 2nd amendment and call for their elected officials to continue to uphold the status quo.
As for today, I just hope nobody on here has been directly effected by this as I have from the past experience I detailed that you quoted... it really really sucks to live knowing that at any time a loved one, or a friends loved one could be traumatized, injured, or even killed in one of these situations. No matter what side of debate you're on, you have to feel like this is a tragedy that could have been avoided.

Yeah Walmart a few years back.

Whelp it's official. America is now that third world country that prioritizes capturing video (go on liveleak if you wanna know what I mean) over doing anything else. What a fucking tool that guy. Either do something or GTFO to safety. Jesus.
But seriously why the fuck does CO (Denver and nearby especially) seem to attract this shit? Since this thread is about to get into gun debate real quick...
It's obviously a drop in the bucket compared to gun violence every day in this country but people only seem to care when it's in a grand display all at once in a random terrorizing fashion. And no the violence isn't all homies shooting one another- plenty of innocent bystanders including lots of kids each day. So don't even fucking try and argue with this fact. No one gives a flying fuck until it impacts them personally. Random shootings incite fear that "it could have been me" and therefore relates to you and therefore matters.
-Yes I'm a gun owner. Yes I support all sorts of firearm types as legal. While a semi-auto rifle is clearly more deadly than a pistol or shotgun, it takes 2 sec to change a mag so I really am not a fan of debating gun types or bans. If they want to restrict certain types of guns then just make them require a more in depth background check with a psychological aspect if need be.
-There's two types of "mass shootings" in this country and they shouldn't be lumped together as the media does. One is gangbangers beefing with each other. And the other category is psychological which is what terrorizes people because it's random.
-We are failing on an epic proportion for mental health in this country. It starts with funding and ends with more gun restrictions.
-Getting a gun is easy as fuck. Like sooooooo easy. You could be schizophrenic and go into a store right now in Ohio, pick out any gun and walk out in under an hour. Unless there's court documentation that you're mentally unstable, the feds won't ever know when doing a background check. That check literally takes 5-15min. And don't get me started on CCW training which is a fucking joke.
Tdlr: too much gun violence but folks and even cops don't care until it affects them personally. Gun laws need reformed in a big way and not by banning guns because they're already out there and that won't help.

Pretty sure they go away quietly since the last time mentally ill people need is a martyr to inspire them.
theLiquorthis fucking place. Nothing ever fucking happens for justice. seriously. you think “what ever happened to that guy who shot those people” and you’re hard pressed. They just go away lightly
It might have to do with how they’re law abiding citizens, good people with a gun until they go on a mass shooting and plead insanity. Explain THAT.
as upsetting as this is, I’m still pissed about the dentist office shooting. This guy shot this woman’s whole family, literally walked up to her 12 year old who was cowering on the ground and executed him point black in the back of the head. And tried to shoot a dad and his daughter in their truck who witnessed it. That motherfucker plead insanity a year ago and all trial progress has seized since then. That lady was a client of my wife’s, too.
This state is so fucking small which makes it incredible how often we have connections to victims of these shootings and how exceptionally huge of a problem it is here. It IS a Colorado problem. I’ve only lived here 10 years and I have connections to people in 3 mass shootings already, and that’s not even counting for the overwhelming odds of knowing people from Columbine
whether it’s gun laws, or eliminating insanity defense, there’s a fucking start. How is it not one hell of a loophole to be declared competent to go in and buy a gun one day, then plead insanity the next?

I went to CU Boulder and have been to this King Soopers a few times. Its surreal to see a familiar place and have it go through a horrible event like this. I local Livesteamer called ZFG Videography was there too and livestreamed the whole thing, its taken down now but its crazy how everything is recorded nowadays. Most of the news footage is ripped from him actually including the suspect being pulled out of the store. The guy was a jackass though and thought it was more important to film rather than check on the bodies or pull people out then cussed at the cops for telling him to get back.
Yea lets blame the unknown white man. He's to blame. Our education and lack of mental health support isn't to blame at all. It's only the person and not at all society.
r00kieSomeone's at fault and the guy pulling the trigger would be the one to blame would he not? Come on man.
zuesYea lets blame the unknown white man. He's to blame. Our education and lack of mental health support isn't to blame at all. It's only the person and not at all society.
There is something very wrong with our society and its not just the guns. AR-15s have been available to the public since the 1960s but its only in the last decade or so that we have seen an uptick in these mass shooting events. I think people have become so divorced from reality through the internet and social media that life itself becomes 'unreal'. Then when they lash out its easier when they are numbed to the consequences and their own humanity. If people want to take away guns, lets at least acknowledge that guns are not some new thing society cant handle, but rather we have become so dehumanized that we can nolonger function in a society with these tools which is a scary thought in itself.

HypeBeastBiden says he wants to ban "assault rifles". Here we go again.
Argue all you want about gun control, I think the real issue is the culture. Why tf are Americans so obsessed with guns? Seriously it’s whack as hell. If guns were more widely available in Canada or Australia nobody would buy them. That’s why the Australian gun buyback had almost no effect. The issue had nothing to do with how many guns there were, it had to do with how many crazy people there were. No I don’t like guns but I don’t think banning them will fix the problem because if someone wants to kill they’re gonna find a way to do it.

Agree 100% but politicians want something to show for their "efforts"
Getting some real nightcrawler vibes from the vid here

I fill up my tank at the king soopers gas station right near there multiple times a week before going skiing. Luckily I was skiing at the time it happened.

Kinda shooting your argument in the foot there aren't ya? no pun intended. I live 30 mins away from Boulder and I'm glad I have the right to protect myself from crazy people.

No way Nikolas Cruz, Adam Lanza, or the Vegas shooter would have been able to kill as many people as they did without a gun.

Genuinely curious. Do you carry when you're out and about? For instance, every time you go to the grocery store?
If you were in that situation, would you engage in a gunfight with the shooter? In a public area? As a gun owner myself, the "right to protect myself" argument seems a bit ridiculous to me.

True, but you can't argue that stricter gun control wouldn't help limit dangerous people having guns. It might not be the best thing to do, but it will make a difference, albeit a small one.

The concept of protecting yourself with a gun is ridiculous to you? Is the concept of using a car to travel places or using a hammer to drive nails into wood also ridiculous to you? Yes bro, I would defend myself if someone was shooting at me and I had the opportunity to shoot back...
