Figured I'd put this up here because I felt like it. Local young gun in LCC, Louis, is trying to get to worlds and put up a gofundme which has been mostly funded now. Great skier, better person. You can feel free to contribute to it if you want or not, and it will probably get fully funded anyway at this point, I personally pitched 10 bucks. Here's his blurb on why he started this gofundme:
Hello everyone! I'm writing to you all because once again this year, I was fortunate enough to qualify for the Junior Freeride Skiing World Championships. Last year was my final season of competing at the junior level and qualifying for World Championships was a huge goal of mine. So, I was beyond excited when I found out the Freeride World Tour was going to be able to host the event with everything that is happening in the world. The event was moved from Kappl, Austria to Verbier, Switzerland due to COVID circumstances which is an added bonus since I have never skied there before. However, it's also an added expense since the FWT does not have the same meals and lodging arrangements (usually free to athletes) as they did in Kappl. I have invested a ton of time and money into Freeride Skiing so getting invited to Europe really means a lot to me. Not only does it give me a chance to showcase my skiing on the world stage but it is an opportunity that very few people get in their lifetime. This is why I would really like to try and make this comp happen.
Coincidentally enough, this is also the first year I'm living on my own. This comp almost didn't happen and was announced only recently to be held March 30 - April 3. While I have been working two jobs most of the winter, it won't be enough to finance the trip. I don't want to burden my parents anymore financially because they have already done so much to help me with my ski career. Big Mountain competing has been a huge expense for my family throughout my teenage years. At this point in our lives, my parents are saving for my college education and I feel like this comp would place an extra financial burden on my mum and dad, so a little bit of help from friends and family would be greatly appreciated. I want to thank everyone who has supported me in so many ways over the years and I look forward to seeing you all at some point in the future when this crazy pandemic is behind us.
TLDR: Young gun, good person, just left his parents house and has been working 2 jobs all winter trying to get to worlds in Europe which he qualified for last year. That's what the gofund me is for.
