What skis would be good for me??

Im looking for a new park / all mountain ski. I would like the ski to be playful so it can butter easily. i ski mostly park but i also like to ski powder and groomers. ski size should be around 175-178. I have been looking at the prodigy 2.0 but there is just to many options and im not sure what would suite me the best? right now i own a pair of edollo really like the flex in the front and the rocker in the front only problem is they have no rocker in the back. the widht is nice i would like the width to be around the 95 to 105.

I know that they a couple years old now, but some 177 marksman is the ski i would go with. Iv'e got some and they rock everywhere tbh. if you're looking for something newer, Iv'e heard great things about the reckonners.

I second this marksman are super fun. Great bit of rocker, bombproof edges and sidewalls well edges are edges of your skiing park. They surf in pow and are pretty quick in the trees. I ski mine in the park, pow, tour on them even tho their a little heavy. My favorite conditions on them is corn or slush tho but I think that’s everyone’s favorite on any ski

Ok. i have heard great things about boths and really would like the marksmans but its impossible to find them new

I would really want on3p skis only problem is i live in finland and when i order form america the shipping prices are crazy.

I knew I should have brought a couple sets over in my shipping container. I am in Scotland at the moment and have a set of 176 Kartel 96's I may be willing to part with after next season. OR, if you would like, I may be able to have my wife pick up a set of whatever you want as she is going back to States next month and will be back in May. DM me if that interests you.

like @oldmanski mentioned about his wife - I will be visiting my family soon (been almost 2 years since I’ve seen them!) in the states. I could maybe nab some ON3Ps for you and bring them back when I come back. Would def need to figure out logistics of that, but it’s a thought.

Also, I find sport Bittl has the best prices for skis. I just bought some Chronics and I’m really enjoying them. It’s a poppy, responsive ski but still playful. It’s 95mm underfoot, not too expensive. Sounds very similar to what you’re looking for, as I am also skiing the same stuff as you and also in Finland.

i have alsoe been looking at the chronics love the graphis and seem like a great ski. i was just wondering do they butter easily / can you get them to butter easily and what kind of profile do they have. how big is the rocker in these skis

Yeah they butter pretty easily. They hand flex really soft out of the box, but when bindings are on and you’re on snow - you realize that it’s pretty stable underfoot (the generous camber helps this) and the tips and tails are soft(er). I find them pretty easy to butter. My previous skis had a “butter zone” and I wasn’t a fan because I felt I couldn’t pop out of the butter. The Chronics you can still load them up and pop out. Relatively mellow flex for butters too. They’re soft and stable. No “hitting the bottom of the flex” (at least I haven’t felt it yet) or overpowering the tail. To me, what’s nice is that the tail and tip flex the same so nose butters are a lot easier.

The rocker isn’t that big, it’s pretty mellow so you’re more flexing the actual ski, as opposed to like a Faction prodigy or ON3P where a lot of the butter is getting on top of the rocker.

They’ve been good in like 5cm fresh snow. I haven’t really had a chance to test them yet in fresh snow. They’re good off piste because they’re so lively that I can just whip and pop them around everywhere. They are reasonably damp (for their size and weight) but as far as like being solid and trucking over stuff - they are not the ski.

My last skis were revolt 95s and I would say they were better as a SKI, as opposed to a park ski. They were better for carving and off piste, trees, fresh snow (caught a day in Ruka with about 10-20cm fresh snow that just kept filling in in the trees), etc. I like the Chronics mostly for their pop and ability to just move very quickly. Basically stable (revolt 95) vs lively (Chronics).

I would sum it up as: get Chronics if you want a poppy ski that can be thrown around across the mountain and you have a very dynamic skiing style. I much prefer the Chronics in the park to my previous skis. I really think Line nailed it with their quote: “take the park to the whole mountain”

Vishnu Wides have the same rocker profile as the wets, which is pretty extreme but not but for its waist width. It is decently soft however not as soft as the wet since its wider, and with that it is MUCH more stable then wets.
