TOAST.Decided to film an edit this year since I never really have and would like to be able to look back on something when I no longer ski park. Dont want to bother anyone with filming me so I've been just setting up a tripod to film. The other day it hit me, am I the same as those influencers that you see filming themselves all the time? I'd like to thinkso, but am unsure. I guess my motives are different but idk.

WoFlowzI’d call it a bit of a passion project I started planning over the summer started this winter continues into next. It’s an WNY kinda bc short film. We know we don’t have the best hills and we know we don’t have the best winters or the best snow but me and a good bit of other people know that and make the best of it. That’s kinda what it’s about

SendyMcSendyfaceI think the difference between an influencer, and someone (i.e. a filmer) making a movie/edit is the amount of time spent talking. If they're talking through most of it, they're an influencer, and can go fuck themselves. If someone is making a clip, and its mostly them doing shit (not just skiing, really any hobby), then thats different. Influencers are focused on themselves, and marketing themselves, whereas if you're just filming shit, you're focused on whatever your subject is. If you were to make an edit, with a substantial chunk of it being you talking, you'd be an influencer.
MinggHonestly, who the fuck cares? I used to film myself and friends a bunch and throw it on instagram and NS - it was god awful and incredibly cringey but it was pretty fun and now it is really fucking cool(and even more cringey lol) to look back on. Who cares if it's influencer-like? Just do it. People will probably judge you but a few years from now you'll at least know you did what you wanted and have something cool to show for it.

JAHpowWhat is the goal of your project? Who do you want to see it? Is this the only thing you will be filming?
WoFlowzI think of it as in more of influencers are like doing it for the wrong reason or what I view as the wrong reason. I want to make something the kinda represents me and something I like even if other people don’t. Where as a lot of their stuff seems to cater towards selling a product or promo code or destination and have to do with money.
