WoFlowzI usually use the cheap all weather wax. But my dads convinced the specific temperature swix waxs make a huge difference. So I just use the stuff he buy I mean might as well if he spends 80$ per block of wax
BradFiAusNzCoCaI use Swix universal glide wax. It’s cheap.
I tried some demo skis Saturday and realized my wax was gliding better than the demos.
DolansLebensraum80$ hes probly getting good wax. I got some flouro wax last season but havent tried it yet.
Cool. You ever used temp specific?
WoFlowzSpecific temps work wonders. But as soon as it gets a bit warmer or colder than that temp by a like 5 degrees they can be a pain especially with wet snow or fresh snow

BradFiAusNzCoCaNot usually, as I’m usually pretty utilitarian about wax. If I were to grab one, I’d be around a 10f one.
I tend to focus on keeping the base hydrated and nylon brushing 5x after waxing. Usually does me well.
ColoradoDogfartdolan you make my head hurt, please go to bed
DolansLebensraumSorry. I dnt know why i obsess over things like sliding friction but for certain things i have like an otherworldly hunger for knowledge.
idk why.
DolansLebensraumIm surprised nylol brushes work at all. Ive got a brass or copper bristle brush that seems to work great for dredging out wax pockets from the base. Although from what ive read you dont even necessarily want to brush with cold abrasive snow, only for when the snow is warm and wet.
ColoradoDogfartI respect your grind my dude, knowledge is power
BradFiAusNzCoCaMine is a half nylon/half copper brush because I was being a cheap ass when I bought it ha
I just do the 5 strokes because a racer friend taught me it and I seem to have good experience with it. After comparing it to those demos I tried (which were a local manufacturers own skis that they made and were demoing), I feel it makes at least a little difference
DolansLebensraumTnx fren
Nice. Why not more than 5 passes? Is the goal to put some structure but not dig out too much wax?
also ive never heard an explanation for why you wax/scrape/brush only from tip to tail.
BradFiAusNzCoCaMy friend told me it’s to get rid of excess wax and create tiny channels for air and water to pass through (to break friction?).
can’t tell if your second paragraph is sarcasm
