Replying to Recommendations on a twin tip set up?
What’s up NS, first post here after lurking for a little bit.
I’m sure this type of post has been made a ton of times over the years, but I’ll give it a shot myself since it’s a new year. Basically I’m looking to purchase my first set of sticks. I’ve rented for about 10 years now, as I don’t get to go an extreme amount, but I’d like to make more time for the sport.
A little background info as it may help - I’m 6’2” about 180lbs. Typically I reach for size 172 skis, but most rental shops try to give me 180s. The 172s just feel more comfortable under me.. mind you, these skis that I rent aren’t true twin tips, I’m not sure if that matters or not as far as sizing goes. I live in NJ, so east coast skiing. I mainly venture to the Pocono mountains (not very extreme), but would like to check out NY and Vermont next year as well. Again, I’ve been recreationally skiing for about ten years now, I consider myself to be an intermediate level skier.. comfortable on any blacks around here, and I enjoy the terrain parks as well.
What I’m looking into getting is a set of all-mountain/park skis, like a versatile twin tip that I can shred the blues with my girl in the day, and then do some park laps at night with the boys.
I’d be looking to buy skis, bindings and poles, boots as well but I would like to get fitted for those as comfort is crucial. My ballpark budget is roughly $1,200 give or take for the whole set up said and done (including boots).
Any feedback at all is extremely appreciated, thanks!
