eheathLong poles (really just normal sized poles) have been a thing for awhile, just became more popular the last 5 years or so. I'm sure they're just using whatever poles their sponsor sent them, you used to see tons of tiny poles 5-10 years ago but it seems now more skiers are using normal sized (or long) poles.
papermacheIts because skiers have realized short poles are pointless and really don't help you do anything. When I'm skiing I either use poles that are long enough to help me or no poles at all.
