I don't get it. When a company (supposedly) spends less than $50 a pair to build and then spends $200/pair to convince you to by them. It doesnt make me feel like The value is really there. I get its great for kids, I'de even recommend for 16 and under. But then I see salomon athletes competing with broken edges and atomic (same parent company probably get squeezed almost the same) athletes losing a heel peice in the middle of a half pipe run. Really makes you think.
Salomon really pulled out of the freestyle market in the US. I have not the slightest idea what level of support they provide in terms of freestyle anymore. Used to be huge.
That said they have some freeride skis and boots that totally rip, so I'd say if you had a chance to ski them you'd know why.
Salomon has called quites on the game they started like 5+ years ago IMO. I love and trust their bindings like no other, but have had no intrest in their skis since the Rocker 2 was discountinued. Their park skis havent been anything intresting since like 2010, and even then they were pretty uninspiring.

You should check out the 112 if the opportunity ever comes up. Super solid, playful, light. It's like the perfect one quiver for resort and touring. She rips.

Idk but i own a Salomon jacket and it's so sick. It's by far my longest lasting piece of gear, sooo warm, loads of large pockets, and more. I've crashed, spit, came, bled, and spilled beer on the thing and you might think it's brand new still. It's too warm to wear most days but I have never been disappointed by it. I rode some old Salomon Threats and they were only aight. My new Shifts are pretty good for the most part, but there are a couple issues. Overall, I'd say Salomon has a lot to offer the majority of skiers, so that's probably why people buy Salomon
Say what you will about their downhill skis, but in the XC game, they are fucking insane. Also, I've heard of a lot of people being happy with their boots, and the STH2s are some really great bindings.
Salomon is done with freestyle skiing. Check out Simon Dumont's podcast where he interviews an attorney that manages a bunch of pro skiers. He explains what's going on with Salomon. But bottom line, they are out.
I have a full 20/21 QST set up. QST 99s and QST shift pro 100s. they absolutely charge down the whole mountain and will ski great through any type of snow. The boots are very comfortable. The range of motion in the walk mode is pretty nice too.
And what other companies give a 65% discount on pro deals?
Customer service is good as well.
Goepper competed in the 2018 olympics with 3 rivets in the tip of one of his skis. Lets not pretend that it is just salomon... https://streamable.com/818qw
I can believe it. I can’t believe how badly Völkl topsheets chip too. Fiberglass hairs everywhere even when just grabbing your skis. It sucks.
I paused Goeppers recent story and yup - his revolt 87 topsheet are super chipped up and splintering.

Edit because I forgot to mention that yes, Salomon does hookup the pro deals.
In years past, in Aus shops they would give you 1% of what you sell towards company credit. So say you sell $15,000 in Amer for the winter, you get $1,500 in Amer credit. Pretty sure it was wholesale/shop direct prices too. I can’t confirm the prices because I was there the season after (Northern winter/Corona year) but all my coworkers were talking about it.

IanAvery-Leafhmmm not sure what they're waiting for at this point, seems like it'll be too little too late but still would be cool to see officially released
and yeah Remco is a boss and still slept on
Didn't you have the thrusters when they first came out? Those were a sick ski back in the day

I had one of the later graphics with the ape ~10 years ago
they were alright graphics, definitely better than those super weak ones with the dog and "the road I took" haha, not sure what the thoughts behind that were...
but the cleanest IMO was def when the whole line had this graphic with different colorways
I’ve just had good luck with their boots over the years. It is crazy to think about how dominant they were in the park scene at one point. Douglas, JF, JP, CR, Candide, Dumont- countless others
I have a very low instep and the SMax 130 is the only boot I've found that actually works for me. If you have a low volume foot, I recommend them so so highly. Their liner needs more cushioning but you can get shin pads too
CrunnchyVanManSalomon boots, and pretty much the whole QST series is fucking insane, they know what theyre doing there
I imagine corona fucked a lot up. For example - Australia got no new Salomon gear for 2020. So distribution was put on hold. I heard this from coworkers when I left.
Companies like Völkl are recycling freestyle graphics for another year. Brits can’t go to alps, etc.
I think it would make sense to wait until people have more disposable income and can travel to release something.
I’m not necessarily a current Salomon fan but would be cool to see the release. Salomon has gotten so sterile now. I remember skiing around with Tommy Ellingson when Salomon had a contest at my local, tiny resort. I was a star struck grom

Salomon used to be so sick with their line up of skis (even the fragile edge armor years), the SPK line up of boots (the OG Pros are some of the best looking boots made) and even outerwear with the magic and G suits. They were the biggest companies in freestyle for a long time and had arguably one of the sickest teams of all time, I don't think its possible for them to come back that big but they sure know how to make skis still just not freestyle skis.

Salomon used to be so legit....
And the original suspect that was just flying off the shelves...

Solomon Quest 120's, literally the only boot brand/model I've ever owned. Every time I need fitted for a new pair, I pretty much instantly nope one whatever else they have me try on.

Lol yeah I have the quest 110s I’ve never owned a better boot. I had the SPKs before those and had a couple iterations of the 1080 boots when they made those. It’s been a good streak
I've owned one pair of Salomon skis 2002 1080s. Loved them. They were trash... But the boots. I love me some Salomon boots. I got some 130 max. Beast like a glove

I love my QST shift 100s. Super comfortable. Hands above my Dabello Pantera 100s.
I'm thinking that I need the 120s though already.
Was gutted they discontinued the ghost line. Would’ve snapped a few pairs up had I realised the black / blue version (ghost 100?) would be the last one
Their boots and bindings are very solid, I bought two pairs of the electric blue Driver 14s when they were discontinued and they're going strong 8 years later. Rocker 2s seemed good, their other skis never interested me though.
Their outerwear was also top tier looks wise, if anyone has a reflex jacket or magic pants in medium lmk.
