Need help, new skis

Hey guys, having a super hard time here haha. I have 2 pairs of skis already but they are on complete opposite sides of the spectrum.

One pair is I believe 87mm waist park ski, full camber twin tip. Super light and playful but I can only use it on groomers or it sinks like you wouldn't believe.

The other pair is 132mm waist super fat powder ski that I also use for touring. Full rocker it is amazing on pow days and backcountry but absolutely terrible on groomers or even chopped up snow.

I'm looking for a new pair to bridge the gap and have rented a few pairs (Solomon qst I think) and something by head and wasn't even a little bit impressed. My main issue is deciding on a waist width. Part of me thinks somewhere between 102-106 would be good, but part of me is like Nah I need a 112. I spend 97% of my resort days in the trees and only use groomers to either get to a lift or between tree runs.

This being said, I'm mainly looking at skevik (local guys), moment, and black crows. But open to other options aswell

Qst106, Line sakana, k2 marksman, Reckoner 112, mindbender 106ti, On3p Jeffery 108s would all be good options. I can personally recommend Sakanas and Marksman both super fun. Sakanas have a super short turn radius and the large rise in the tip gives it a nice float in pow. The marksman surf in soft snow and are bit heavier but charge in chop and crud. I haven’t skied the Reckoner 112 but from what people Ik have said is that they are super fun.

they're pretty soft, but you could pick up some line blends or maybe some sick days. Also this is totally cliche and kinda dumb, but I have a couple friends who ride vishnus and they love em

That is a huge difference aha
But get Skevik. Support the local guys. I’d say 105-115 is right about the sweet spot

Meridian 107. Fun as hell and you’re already used to full rocker with your fat skis.

I'd keep your options open to something as big as 116. As long as it has a nice rocker/camber/rocker shape it should ski the whole mountain really well.

You got two weird skis already. You should get another weird ski in the middle. Meridian or Sakana would be great options. Both tackle the trees in a very different way and both are fun as hell

Wildcat 108, Deathwish 112 or Wildcat 116 for sure. Can't go wrong with any of them. All three of those skis rip and will give you decent float. I've skiied my 116 cats on fresh pow and on ice in the same week. No problems on either condition.

The deathwish is rapidly becoming the only ski I bring with me this year, though. It really is a one ski quiver. You can drive it a bit, but like all of these skis they like to stay more neutral. It pivots like crazy, and that tripple camber is the real deal. She grips hard.

@Foxtrotx1 yeah I've really been considering the deathwish 108,but I've been unsure of the triple camber tech.. It seems moment is the only company doing it.

My park/groomer skis are Elan puzzle tbt, the tbt tech means the base isn't flat but sorta semi spherical at the top and tail, makes it super easy to spin but if I could go back in time I probably would have chosen I different pair. But its basically the same thing, Elan is the only company doing it and I'm not a huge huge fan so I'm worried about repeating this with the deathwish

The the hype is real IMO. But don’t take my word for it, check out the blister pod cast and the blister review. Teton gravity research is a good source for Moment feedback. The CEO posts quite a bit there too.

also, the wildcat comes in 108, DW is 112

Fwiw, Shaggy’s skis use a similar tech in their Ahmeek line. Instead of “triple camber,” they call it “camber pockets”
