How many people will ride these bindings if i get enough money i will def. purchase these bindings because well i was reading a freeze review and damn they sound like a look bindinga that have adressed what the look bindings have.
How many clams will they run?

I think it's funny that you guys think these bindings are so 'new school' and 'sick' because they're made by a company called Vist, and they're all about racing.

Will there be a matching Vist/4frnt racing plate to make it a complete ski/binding/riser package? Why not just re-brand everything in the Vist catalog while you're at it?!?
Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

That's not really the point. The point is that you could buy the same bindings now, but everyone's getting all hyped up for them just because they have a 4frnt logo on them.

didn't know they were being made by a race comapny....... and i don't give a shit because race bindings are so much more sturdier than reg. bindings.

No, they aren't 'beefed up for freestyle'. They're the VIST binding. Simple as that. There are no new developments for next year's 4frnt that are any different from next year's VIST bindings. The only difference is the paint. Let's be clear on that. Does that make them suck? No. They'll probably be pretty damn tough. Does it mean that all this hype is totally ridiculous? Yes.

look pivots are kinda gone next year, pivot 18 are going to be out still just not the 10 or 12s - anyway - they say that the elasticity is the same in the heel which gives the binder its park perfectnes, plus it drop total weight alot.

theres so much bullshit in this thread.
I care about the name on the binding and I will buy them because of that name. I will buy it because I trust that brand.

i'd usually wait up a year after everything comes out cause then they get feed back from all the people who ride them and make it better. if i get new skis i'd look into the 4frnt's

hahah VIST bindings seem cool already to me... hell They let you choose from like 15 different colors already. instead 4frnt is just putting a logo (prob spray painted by a little boy in china) on a pair of VIST bindings that they choose the colors for you OR you order it from VIST you have like 15 different choices and you can spry paint a 4frnt logo on it if you really need. you poeple are funny.

How could anyone have been 'told info by friends' about a binding that isn't on the market yet?

i think he meant that they are critical of the company in general, and alluded to the fact that they did not base this opinon on personal experience, but on what someone else said was their opinion on 4frnt.

vist bindings are hard as fcuk to find anyway, and the binding was on all 4frnt demos at coc so people on here have used them

Let's get something straight...4FRNT Deadbolts are NOT the same binding you'd get from VIST. There are technical features that are exclusive to 4FRNT. VIST manufactures the binding for 4FRNT in Italy, and the base model of the binding has been on the WC for 4 years. It's proven technology.
I'm glad 4FRNT went for a PROVEN design instead of trying to re-invent the wheel like LINE.
And JD, if you're so tied up on the binding just being re-named(which it wasn't), why don't you look down on those Rossi bindings on your skis, because they're just re-named Look's. Rossi didn't do any R&D on theirs, they just slapped their name on some Looks and BOOM they're in the binding world! So for once, stop talking out your ass and SHUT THE FUCK UP.

So they can rely on the popularity of the pivot to sell a cheaper binding. Why else would they keep the 'big penis' heel?

Actually, Rossi owns Look, not the other way around.

I never said Rossi didn't own Look, and that's not the point. They slapped their name on an existing binding and made no changes, so for everyone who is preaching about the 4FRNT/VIST relationship, I hope you're not skiing Rossi's as well...

no dynastar owns look..... there is a weird deal with the rossi/look binding deal. but i know that look reps don't get discounts on rossi bindings.

4 frnt bindings look exactly like the nordica binding they made for a year or two, they might be the same design. but i know the nordica bindings hold up, so id say go for it.

there are no features different than the vist binding. from what i know vist is using the same binding as 4frnt for one of their models because they think its cool.

Hey, UTmeathead... considering you're a team manager, you might want to check into a few things before you make a post like that. Your 'exclusive features' don't exist. The 4frnt bindings are different from THIS year's VIST, but are identical to next year's, which also have these 'exclusive features'. If you'd compared the two side by side, you'd know that. They're identical. But that's a moot point anyways, because what I was trying to say (and you missed this apparently) was: the point isn't that 4frnt is WRONG to do this; they aren't, and neither is Rossi. The point was that it's incredibly stupid to go 'OMG I LYKE CANT WAIT 4 THA 4FRONT BINDENGS!!!1' when they already exist, and have for years under a different name. Now they're getting new paint, and everyone's all up ons. The hype is idiotic.

I was under the impression that they were the same thing as VIST, no 'features'... having talked to people who were in Vegas for SIA and who saw both, they said they were the same thing. No?

From what I know, the 4frnt's use a different metal alloy in the heel plate, different screw pattern, adjustable upwards release (lock-out), a different forward pressure mechanism, and a different brake...from looks alone, I doubt you'd be able to tell those differences.

-Wider AFD.
The current one is too narrow, its the width of the toe piece base plate. The new one, given all of our skis are wider, will span the distance of the toe wing span, creating a stronger platform with greater support, removing the screw heads by inserting from underneath so a much cleaner surface.
-Reinforced Forward pressure.
We have gone through the engineering with VIST to develop a stronger forward pressure plate to withstand the high impact switch landings. This design is all our own and will only be in our bindings.
-Reinforced toe piece wing material
After further testing, we are changing the design of the under side of the wings to a much harder plastic and also to cover more of the boots’ toe. This will increase contact surface leading to a more secure fit and also be more resilient when release happens and under side plastic gets impacted.

JD, judging from the differences (with the exception of the AFD, which hasn't been used yet), I can't see how you'd be able to tell the difference by lining them up 'side-by-side.' If so, you're telling me you can tell the durameter of metal alloy in the heel just by looking at it? You must be smarter than I thought...

And the hype is about supporting a company that supports your segment of the sport (freeride). It's about giving consumers another option to go with instead of Rossi, Salomon, or Marker for that matter. An option which is geared more towards our needs as freeriders and not just another race binding.
And if that option wasn't needed, well, I guess there wouldn't be so much hype either, now would there?

Well, if we're on a first name basis... I probably am, Jake. even if I'm not, I can still say that I'm not a sales rep who rips on other companies and customers, at the very least. By the way, you just repeated exactly what I said: comparing the two side by side, there are no differences. You say you're using a different metal in the heel? Cool... what is it? Is it worth the extra cash we'll be paying for these? Here you go, Mr. Fuller, here's a chance to sell your company's binding to NS and actually do your job properly... please enlighten us. What makes 4frnt bindings better than VIST, and why should we buy them?

And once again, you're talking out your ass. What rep? And what companies am I ripping on? Rossi, Salomon, Marker? Those aren't companies, their conlglomerates, the drug dealers of the industry. Have fun supporting them if you like...

^You're right, I was misinformed, I just got a PM that cleared things up. Apologies to Jake for the mixup, UTmeathead is NOT the sales rep for 4frnt. I thought he was. Sorry to 4frnt for that error on my part as well. If he isn't a 4frnt rep, he can talk all the shit he wants... lord knows I do.

If you can find Vist bindngs in shops, buy them. Obviously there are none, which means people would have to buy 4frnt's.

well after this long discussion i have decided that 1. They're probable will be one of the better freeride bindings on the market and i should get them.
2. The hype still needs to be there because well really good bindings that are hard to find are now avaliable from 4 frnt
which is totally sick
