VT_scratchtry and be a bit more specific to those of us who are less hip. you want a mini dv cam? do you even have a firewire port anymore or way to log the footage? shitty digital video cam with zoom?
VT_scratchtrue I wonder how something like this would fair. small and easy to toss in a pocket and toss around to the group to film with.
tastybarrelsI think the term that I should have used was camcorder? Yes, something with zoom and can transfer to computer reletivly easily.
BoostMaGI've got a Hi8 Sony Handycam from the late 80s early 90s and I highly reccomend, also mini DV tapes/cams if u want a bit less grainy footy
Ps- Extremely easy to transfer, get OBS software on the computer(free) and a 10 dollar analog to USB from amazon and you can transfer all the footage u ever get into mp4's

VT_scratchreally? can you share a link? transferring mini dv adapting into usb for mp4 transfer? I looked online but didn't find anything
BoostMaGPlug all the colored ends into your cam, put your tape in the camera, and record the tape playing on OBS in your computer
Super simple as long as your cam has the outputs
tastybarrelswhat cam do u have, looking for that 90s early 2000s look...
air.bubbleTry and aim for something 2000-2010, i rip a sony handycam from 2009 and it has that early 2000s look with sd cards easy computer transfer and a super good optical zoom, dankest setup and its super portable
ColoradoDogfart@tastybarrels did you ever find a cam? Im in the same boat and want a hella cheap shity but cool looking cam.
mvfDepending on if your budget is flexible or if you can find a deal on ebay, I would look at a Canon GL or GL2, or a Sony VX.
The GL and GL2 are what I grew up shooting with and those things are awesome. Maybe too nice of footage for you though?
tastybarrelsWas just on eBay looking for a dad cam, could not figure out what was what. Looking to throw some of that old school footage into my edits. Does anybody know which one to get? Looking for sum around $25- $40 or cheaper. People always talk about the Sony ones which model?
swagmasterflexI got just the camera for you my man. I'll send a pic of it when I get home If ur interested.
