Replying to DPS Wailer 112 length dilemma 184 vs 189
Hi!
I have been reading you for some time now!
I am 6' and 167 lbs. I currently own a pair of DPS Wailer 112RP2 Pure 3 in size 184 and was considering upgrading to the new Wailer Alchemist 112, but was having questions whether or not I should go for 189s or the 184s.
I have been skiing my current DPS for 3 seasons now, and they work like a charm: they are playful and easy to turns, shine while skiing in between trees and have 0 complains about them on deep pow. I know it is not the perfect ski to do so, I but used them as my day-to-day ski (40% inbound 60% outbounds). My only 2 pieces of criticism is how difficult it is to carv/edge on groomers (no surprise given the Wailer construction) and that on groomers again the ski seems to suffer from a lack of stability at high speeds.
Now, I have the opportunity to update my setup to the 2020 Wailer Alchemist 112. Given I spend so much time in the resort, I was planning on also upgrading my binding to the Salomon Shift.
The big question here though is, shall I go for the 189s or the 184s? I have read a lot of comments in both directions (some encouraging to size up, while others to stick to true-to-size) and would appreciate some light!
