Hi I'm looking at upgrading my current touring set up to something lighter and smaller than my current set up(jj 2.0s) i would rather have a slightly heavier ski that performs well down hill over a super light weight ski the dosent perform well when skiing.
I'm 80kg 5/11 and ski aggressively and enjoy skiing couliers, steep terrain and going fast when I can. I will be touring mostly in new Zealand and Canada so the skis will need to be to handle variable conditions. I will be mouting either a pair of kingpins or g3 bindings.
Im currently looking at the following skis.
Atomic backland 107
Faction prime 3.0
Black crow corvus freebird or navis freebird
Moment wildcat 108 (non touring version)
K2 wayback 106 or mindbender 108
My concerns about the following skis are
Atomic back land- I have heard through friends and reviews that it is not a very forgiving ski and the tails are very stiff.
Faction prime- the quality and durability of the ski as factions are know to break.
Black crow skis- I'm very keen on the corvus freebird bird but they are an expensive ski and I want to know if I'm paying top money for a good ski and not just the paying alot because there black crows.
Moment wildcat 108- they are a ski designed and built on the west coast in USA and I'm concerned they will not handle the variable conditions we have in New Zealand.
K2 skis- I have skied the mind bender 108 and really liked it but they are a heavy ski and they wayback 106 is very light so my concern is that downhill performance will not be very good.
If there are any other skis people recommend or if you have a pair of any of the skis listed feedback would be great.
