This is the dumbest fucking article I've ever had the displeasure of reading. Ken Dryden is great, but come on you were literally in the show you should know better than this. Forwards, goalies, and the game as a whole have evolved along with each other. Look at how teams move the puck now, how they skate, and how fucking sick their stick handling is. And saying goalies don't have to get off their knees at all anymore is fucking ignorant. I really expected better from a hof goalie but that was too much to ask for.

Being a goalie in hockey is probably the hardest position in sports aside from being a QB. You're constantly fighting to keep your crease. You got your team and the other team constantly banging you. You're trying to stop something that's 3 inches in Diameter that can be going 100 MPH. You're squatting the whole fucking game. You're constantly needing to rehydrate to keep from sweating to death. If you give up a soft goal you feel like shit. COMEON NOW

Then he goes on to admit himself that it's still like that in basketball despite implementation of the three point line. I just get the feeling he hasn't watched a single hockey game in the last decade or two. Just absolute fucking amount of puck movement there is in a game is insane, and he's over here acting like people are chopping at the net the entire game.
I am having so much fun making fun of my love interest who is a ranger fan. They got so hot toward the end of last season and got the first overall pick and they suck this year. As a diehard isles fan I like nothing more than seeing the RAGS suck. It's just so fun to bust her ovaries.

i think he actually makes some well-reasoned points but his argument as a whole seems unnecessary. i'm not really sure what reason there would be to make scoring easier. the current balance is pretty good, you don't see many 1-0 snoozefests or 10-0 blowouts these days. so why mess with it?

its not. its just harder for the regular dude to pay for a seat when they're all being priced for business. you've got the entire tri-state area and your gonna tell me they don't have a solid fan base? kind of crazy. i grew up with plenty of die hard ranger fans. we're here, just disappointed in the last few seasons.

yeah, its a bummer that the prices are high. the only way i could ever go to games was if my dad got tickets through work (as mentioned before) but he mainly used them for his clients, obviously. as much as it sucks, there's just always going to be that demands. would be silly for msg not to capitalize on it

Try living in Wisconsin (no professional team) and listening to Blackhawks fans mispronounce Toews, Byfuglien, etc... in their cup days or listening to Minnesota Wild fans tell you that, “this is our year. We have such a great, young team!” everyyyyy year and then they never make it to the playoffs.

i actually went up to jay peak last week and was able to throw my skates on for the first time since my last practice my senior year! felt pretty darn good!

Dude ticket prices are fucked. My family's had season tickets since wayyy before I was born but we had to get rid of them because they were so expensive. Tried telling the people to give us a break but they were basically like no fuck you loyal fans we want more money from a rich guy who goes to one game a season.
I mean having an arena in the middle of NYC is badass. I'm jealous of that, but because of it they literally charge you a mortgage payment for a ticket on a fucking Tuesday against a team like the flames. It's insane.
On a side note it will be nice to see fans back in the stands.... albeit only 10% capacity.
I'm hearing if you want Knicks tickets for 20 home games the cheapest package is $100,000.... If anyone listens to Carton and Roberts on WFAN they were talking about it yesterday. I almost shit my pants after i learned they were serious.

Haha don't take it personally man. I'm jealous of the garden but not of the prices. I enjoyed going to the garden on free tickets. It really is the most famous arena in the world. I'm excited for the new UBS arena for the Isles. I wish it was closer to me but I'll surely make it out there for some games. It's so strange. I haven't been to NYC since Covid. I used to be in the city at minimum once a month. Love the 45 min train ride from Stamford.

i only read the article now and my god hes just stuck in his time. like you said, the entire game has evolved and he's only upset about the goalie. definitely thinks of himself as more core. and i could be wrong but im pretty sure they put tighter regulations on the amount of thigh rise pads can have a few seasons ago(maybe around 2017-18?
