question for Hood people

me and a few buddies are thinking of making a trip up there second week of May because we have a free place to stay. What are ticket prices like during that time? Also, how far is the drive if we wanted to take a day at Bachelor or something. Any other good mountains in the area? Thanks in advance

hood is pretty much the only summer resorts around there. tickets were like 20 bucks i think

good luck finding a tix for $20, more like 30-40. Bachelor is about 3 hours from portland, mt. hood about 2.

since it's not summer, there's no summer skiing

so tickets at Meadows (1 and a half hours away at most) are $50 unless there is a deal. Bachelor (3 and a half hours away from Portland depending on conditions) is $49 for an adult. Bachelor definitely has better snow, but I like Meadows rails more.

okay guys, staying at Hood is free for me. Not asking how far from Portland. But they are still pretty expensive in May?

Yes, for the most part ticket prices are going to be the same as mid-season rates. But if you've got free lodging, $80 bucks isn't bad for two days of descent spring skiing. Timberline will have a pretty nice park set up on the Palmer Glacier (don't get jealous of the Windell's kids, just tear the shit outta the public park). Unless we get another solid hit of snow Meadows is going to be hurting for snowpack by then, I doubt that their terrain will be much for skiing. Also, depending on when you go in May, you might be able to score a few cheap tickets from Ten Time pass holders wanting to get rid of their unused tix (late may, because passes expire on the 31st I believe, not so sure about that though). Anyways, have fun...
