I've recently bent my new poles and i don't want to throw them away. I was wondering if someone had some tips on how to fix them! I was thinking about pouring boiling water on them and then apply some force slowly
Hit the bend (small angle face out) on a post or something, but don't wack it too hard. This works surprisingly well. Bending it back by hand is likely to crack it, unless you apply enough heat. Boiling water likely won't be enough.
I use a torch to warm up the metal at the bend and slowly straighten it out. I’ve straightened a pole I bent to 90 degrees this way. Key is patience and work slowly
I bent a pole pretty far last year. I just bent it back with my leg right there. It lasted a couple weeks before it snapped, but yeah I wouldn't recommend that if you're really trying to make the pole last. I'm not sure how much heating it up would help. You'd probably be less likely to snap it bending it back, but it would still be weak in that spot. It's probably better than not though.
ive never had luck personally with bending shit back but when ive seen others do it well (literally one time I guess, not like i care to watch this shit often), they used a shop clamp and extended the pole by clamping it to something else (like a broom) and then just used the leverage to insanely slowly get it right. it was an adjustable pole too which i was certain wouldnt work.
Went through my share of bent and broken poles, didnt ever have much luck straightening them. I ended up buying a pair of Panda Poles(Bamboo) 8 seasons ago and they are still going strong. I know Tanner(owner)is taking a break for the moment but will come back into production later on down the road.
