I wanna hear some dumb shit.
I saw a kid and his dad get kicked off the lift because they had boards from Canadian Tire

eheathYeah its a huge problem, idk what they're going to do but the ski resort lots, bus lots, park and ride lots, are all too small and don't accommodate the traffic the resorts have generated. This is the resorts problem just as much as UDOT and neither are doing much.
PeppermillRenoWhy is it so bad? I haven't skiied Utah other than PC in 10+ years but me and my dad always went peak winter break to Alta/Bird and were able to park. PC wasn't that busy exactly a year ago this weekend when we flew out Jan 1. Altabird passes aren't cheap and you only get 5/7 on Ikon.

DeadBThis happened the other day.
This little kid skiing down maybe 80 ft green/blue run. I was running the carpet. The lodge is on the same slope halfway up.
Little kid is probably about 6 years old, is just trying to have fun, skiing way too fast and cant really stop yet.
I noticed his mom was watching him ski she's standing by the ski racks. I noticed too that the kid wasn't wearing a helmet, which technically isn't not allowed and his moms right there so I just shrug it off as poor parenting, as much as I wanted to say something.
So anyways the kids clearly done skiing and going over to the lodge to stop skiing but he is going waaay to fast and he can't stop in time and slams right into the metal grate staircase. The kid went head first, little guy cracked like an egg.
at that point I the mom has probably already called 911 because it was right in front of her. I radioed to patrol.
I really dislike when jerry's do dumb ass shit, usually foreigners who can barely speak a word of english It's fuckin dangerous and can lead to themselves and others getting potentially badly hurt. Because this incompetent mother thinks oh its all just snow he doesn't need a helmet. endangering the life of her own son, kinda ticks me off really.
But yeah anyways, that was pretty Dumb. Not the kids fault he doesn't know better which sucks.
Plus shoveling blood is my favourite activity by far. Just love it.

DarcThis little girl like maybe 5 was in front of me in the poma (button lift for usa?). About 5m after getting on there was a sign with the no snakeys picture. She immediately starts swerving and tacos the sign. Cause the button is also between her legs she can't get off and gets pulled up into the air over the sign gets body slammed then the button continues to drag her corpse along.
surfaceoutsidersThat's fucking awful, did she actually die???
DarcNo lol. After we got ski patrol to stop the lift she had a bit of a cry then seemed to bounce back like most young kids and skied off with her instructor.

DeebieSkeebiesInsane amounts of growth going on in the state. Utah and Salt Lake Valleys are blowing up and even the small rural communities in the valleys outside of PC.
PeppermillRenoHuh. Makes sense.
Honestly the last 3 years or so since Vail expanded East with tons of options and Ikon showed up crowds to me have dispersed overall and been lesser. And I haven't really been avoiding weekends like MLK every time I expect a horrible crowd and people parking down the road its actually been not bad. Stowe was more crowded pre Vail (I took the first year off that it was Epic but have had a pass since every days been less crowded than expected last 2 seasons.)
Early December pow at Vail wasn't bad last year (people commenting that they'd never skied snow that good and it that empty and it was a Saturday) PC wasn't that bad Tahoe hasn't been that bad at all last 5 years even on pow days at Squaw or Kwood etc etc. I've skiied a lot and I'd say the crowds the last 2-3 years have been way less than they were 5-10 years ago and far less than as a kid.
SavageBiffPhew
when u said corpse in the first post shit went from uh oh with an heir of humor to dark real quick
eheathPC definitely isn't super busy, its as busy as it ever was the last 12 years ive skied there and your thoughts about it being less crowded might be true (altho parking is still completely fucked) its because PC isn't that sick of a mountain to ski at. LCC and BCC especially have gotten much, much worse in the last 5 years.
Crusty123watched my buddy who never attempted a backflip on skis, trampoline, ground, let alone a pool try and send a backflip off a side hit, under rotate, ohh and he had two flares in his hand...
... yeah that was me lol
oh and the next day I tried a front flip, that went well
