HYP3R_REAL1TYJulian jaynes: the origins of consciousness
The theory of Bicamerilism
my thinking stems from there. Also I don’t intentionally use fancy language. It’s just how I talk and describe things, in fact when I was younger I used to read Schopenhauer and the likes. I told myself “I want to think and talk like that” and so by telling myself that 10 years later I became more or less the wish of my conscious thought.
Fair enough I was just pissed you called me a pleb tbh.
I think I found the problem tho, me and you just have a different definition of what conscious is.
I think conscious is just simply being aware of the things going on around you. And you think that conscious is being self aware, and being able to make complex decisions.
Idk which definition is right. I’ll let you be the judge of that, but if what being conscious means is being aware that you are a living thing, in a world with other living things, making decisions that impact your life, its pretty obvious that dogs are not conscious. The reason why they listen to humans commands is because we own them and feed them otherwise they would just mindlessly wander looking for food aimlessly with no goal or purpose. However, I think that being conscious is just simply being aware of your surroundings, and has nothing to do with internal thought. I think that just walking around aimlessly is being conscious. Thats where our disagreement comes from.
Because no fucking shit dogs can’t make complex decisions and reflect on themselves they’re dogs. Being able to reflect on ones own life is a human thing.
if anybody on earth thinks that dogs are aware of their existence they are fucking morons. But dogs do make decisions and learn from their mistakes, and I still think that all animals should be treated with the same respect that humans have because they are living things with feelings. They just don’t understand feelings, they don’t have the mental capacity to know what feelings are.
