djmustardThe insert in the back of the heel/back cuff is fine to take out, I pulled it out and rode with it out fine, allows a more leaned back stance; but I eventually put it back and ride with it in now

ChimAlso, what is the purpose of forward lean? How does it benefit the way you ski?

Strange.Journey.As a ski instructor/coach of 9 years this was absolutely painful to read.
Skiing with your shins in the front of your boots and knees over your toes is one of the most important things and first things you should be taught when learning to pizza and even make wedge turns. Also making sure your boots are snug and fit properly, the top cuff of your boot should be tight enough that when you lean forward into a proper ski stance you can barely put your fingertips between your calf and the back of your boot. Your ski boots aren't nike dunks, the strap at the cuff is extremely important and should be as tight as comfortably possible. If you have little to no forward lean your ski stance will be more backseat making it more difficult to ski, put your knees at more risk, and you look like a jerry. Hope this helped
ChimSorry for the pain I caused you with this question. This season will be my second on the slopes and I’m sure there’s gonna be a few more painstaking questions for you to reply to. Thanks for your advice and congrats on your ninth year as a ski instructor.
